Tom Ward departs

According to the official site, Greene wanted to keep him, he'd agreed terms with him, but now Ward has decided he wishes to speak to other clubs (Sleaford, Spalding???)

Fair enough.......

I'm not a big fan, he seems to have stalled a bit development wise, I'd prefer to have kept Stainsfield.

But once again the over riding feeling is one of acceptance of us being nothing other than mid table, making up the numbers again.....

I would like to have seem Stainfield stay . When the retained list was released many on here complained that more players should have been released including Stainfield and Ward , I suppose these fans see it as a step forward now they,ve gone.

It seems that my interpretation of the term "loyality" has been incorrect.  I always thought if someone said they were "loyal" and had "agreed terms" it meant they'd be sticking around.  It seems the actual definition is "I'm loyal unitl somebody else makes me an offer"!

In all seriousness, I think the chances are he's going to get more of a chance at Gainsborough than here next season, so it's a good move for him and I've got no problem with him leaving on that basis.  However,  I do wish these guys wouldn't spout off to the local media about being loyal etc and then jump ship a week or two later, as it feels like they have treated us like mugs.

Personally pleased that stainfield and ward have left the club, average at best and were a big problem to the amount of goals we conceded last season. Must be better players out there than them.

Probably they wanted to be loyal! Been told that a certain player was going to sign but his name had been crossed off !
So dont believe what everything whats been said! Starting to feel this could be a long season.

I dont see why some have gone negative again, at the end of the season if he wasnt on the retained list everybody would of agreed he needs to go, personally i thought he was painful to watch a bit of a liability at the back.

We shipped far to many goals in last season and now most of the back line has gone only marshal left (which i am pleased about) it is just interesting to see who DG brings in because the truth is pre season starts at the weekend and we have 1 centre back

I dont like being negative because the signings so far have seemed very good, but my concern is we will wait and wait and we will end up panic signing a couple of defenders who aren't as good from a few leagues below! We have been waiting for a left back who was supposed to be signed about 3 weeks ago. However looking on a more positive note we do have to trust the manager because like i say the signings have been good so far and I presume that there will be plenty of trialists in per season.

Clearly both Stainfield and Ward were part of the achilles heel of our squad, so losing them is not the end of the world.  However, I think to have kept one of them would have been useful as a back up.  My prefference would also have been Stainfield, so it seems a shame that he's the one who has dropped down a few levels.  Interesting that Gainsborough can still afford to offer contracts.   What we ideally need now is a pretty experienced centre half to partner Piergiani and a decent back up.  It'll be interesting to see whether we have the budget to do that and who we get.

Loyalty is a two way street.

If BUFC wanted to be "loyal" to their players they would offer them a contract.

By not doing so, it gives them the chance to release them, as soon as someone else becomes available.

The Club needs to sign that experienced centre-back .and another Left sided wing-back type  at least .
