It's the only opportunity during the season for Centre of Excellence/Academy sides to play for a trophy, as all league matches during the season are on a development non competitive basis. The Pilgrim Cup is turning in to the highlight of the season for a lot of teams.
I would also like to congratulate the Boston U14s squad on getting both teams in to the final against some very good opposition. Boston 'A' lifted the trophy (without conceding a goal all tournament) after a epic battle with local rivals Lincoln City in the Semi final, Cranwell came to a stand still to watch this game with Boston breaking the dead lock with two minutes to go and doubling the lead in injury time to run out 2-0 winners. In my ten years of following youth football I think this was the best team performance I've witnessed at any youth level.
Our U14s squad are very promising for the future.
