Agree with Madhos think the lads are struggling to come to terms with an expectant home crowd. Maybe it's time for some people realised We are a Unibond club, not just a Conference club who are playing 2 levels below. Until the fans get this I feel we will continue to struggle at home as the pressure continues to get to the players. Also a thought, if we could swap 2 home draws for 2 of our away wins even though we'd have the same points scored I don't think half as much criticism would be on here as there is now, I think the frustration of not seeing us win is clouding some peoples judgement.
Having personally seen all the away games we have been fantastic Burscough apart and look a different team, this is for 2 reasons
1) no expectant home crowd, enough said
2) Teams come at us more when we are away which is why the 4-5-1/4-3-3 works.
Also agree with most of OCM's comments especially the formation. 4-3-3 is not working at home and most of the time looked more of a 4-5-1 to me, with Suarez/Newsham taking turns to be isolated up front. The tactic is far too negative at home we need to get at teams more.
Having said all that I do think we played very well first half, dominated the possession and for those that only saw us create 1 chance I counted 3 each half. First half Sleath shooting high over from the left wing when 1 on 1 with the keeper. Suarez missing the ball completely when it was pulled back for him with an empty net and the keeper stranded. And Clark slicing the ball when through on the right.
Second half we where very poor (which coincided with the moans from the crowd starting) but despite this still had 3 very good chances, Newsham shooting straight at the keeper from about 3 yards out, his header that only he knows how he missed it and a lob from the same player that was only just wide.
So for me the lack of creativity that some talk about is unjustified and some of the criticism is a bit OTT. It may be we have to wait till after Christmas to see the best of this team, it may be next season, but I believe we have the right managers to get us out of this league even if it isn't instant success (which having only lost once it's not that bad a start). And the boos are out of order, very Newcastle.
