Drurys new team
« on: February 20, 2013, 01:44:58 PM »
10 games - 10 points

8 new players (Watt, Lister, Mayo, Foster, Lawlor, Walker, Smith, Sprigs)

Looks like his team when everyone is available will be:

1:Haystead                         lacking confidence

2:Marshall                           not as good as Silk
5:Watt                                not an improvement on Stainfield
6:Lister                               not an improvement on Ward
3:Mayo                               playing well at mo but better than Jellyman??

7:Fairclough                       Same player
8:Ross                                Same
4:Foster (c)                        Different type of player to what weve had but not convinced hes great
11:J.Smith                         Massively bigged up by GD on arrival... delivered nothing. Not a patch on JONES or STOKES

9:Newsroom                      Same Player
10:Weir-Daily                    Same Player (again lacking confidence)

This team have ONLY WON ONE GAME (out of 8) THIS YEAR :-/

im sure plenty will complain about negativity but its hard to be positive
WE ARE LOSING GOOD PLAYERS
GAINING WEAKER ONES
NOT GETTING RESULTS
NOT SHOWING GOOD PERFORMANCES

In your opinion. Watt has been doing well for me. Smith has been disappointing. Foster for me is a good player at what he does and we do need him. I also like watt and lister that's my opinio. Silk was overrated to my mind constantly caught out of position cost us a lot of goals

Your entitled to your opinion, but I disagree with almost everything here. Agree that Haystead is lacking confidence and also some of the others.
As for Lister I dont think we have seen enough of him yet.
When Drury came in it was about trying to improve the team in the interim, try and stop the rot.
It is way too early to write it all off, this is about rebuilding for next season, we are not going up and we are not going down.
I would imagine that all the players contracts will end in June, so this is when Drury will hopefully bring in who he really want.. finances permitting.
Way too much doom and gloom on here.
Patience is required things dont happen overnight, I believe we are going through a transition period. If we get some good news on the ground situation then that will give the place a lift IMO Ithink getting the ground sorted is far more important at the moment but thats not to say that we want to see some entertainment on the pitch.
Iam convinced that we will get off to a decent start next season.............we will see.
A moaney clapper!......... best of both worlds

I agree we need a foster like player... looks very strong on the ball but prehaps lacks a little bit of quality. maybe a player that combines strength and quality is unrealistic?. Watts ok but is he an improvement? seems rash and we are still conceding goals  hes played 5 and conceeded 13....

Disagree that GD hasnt had enough time or finances... 10 games.... and hes dropped silk and jones presumably two of the bigger earners.

IF WE WERE ALWAYS GOING TO ACCEPT 'IT WILL BE BETTER NEXT SEASON' WHY SACK JASON LEE BEFORE THE SUMMER?

MAIN reason's poor football wich led to lower gate's.

BOTH have been improved IMO.

Drury didn't drop Jones, he moved to GT for a better(!) deal.  Agree he shouldn't have released Stokes, but we will just have to bite our nails and see what he does, or doesn't do, in the closed season, when I'm sure a lot of teams will be trimming their playing staff.

1     Agree.

2    Right to let Silk go ,  Marshall still inproving and better long term bet .
5    Jury still out ,  concerned Watt has picked up so many yellow cards at lower level , will find it harder
                             to avoid them in BSN.
6    Again too early to tell , but hopeful,
3    Jellyman ?    Mayo ,  work commintments ?  maybe work to do here for GD.

4    Agree to give him time.

11.  Exactly what you would expect from a player unable to get in a struggling UNI League team , poor .

10   Agree.

Marshall is better than silk. Certainly better value for wages. Lister and watt are better than ward and stainfield and foster has been a good addition just what we needed. Drury will get things right given time.

you think footballs better to watch now?
We used to play with a front four in newsham, SWD, Jones and fairclough now we have weir-daily up front alone with newsham very deep. Previously had Ross and Milne centre mid both do the pretty stuff.
Better to watch surely?
in my opinion we needed to get uglier and we have done...
BUT QUALITY HAS DROPPED
AND RESULTS
AND LEAGUE POSITION

Im sure you'll say there were 900 there on saturday but thats probably due to us making new signings and hadnt had home game in a while so curiosity rather than expectancy
