I really struggle for a right and left back that I remember with fondness and the midfield hasn't really had many iconic players to remember.

John Lakin - best full back I've seen play for United.

Jim Smith - surely an iconic mid-fielder (wish we had someone like him today)

Arthur Mann - another icon in our teams past.

For my keeper obviously Bazza but i really enjoyed watching Michel Kuipers and Andy Marriot.

for a full back Ben Chapman or Lee Beevers when he first came he was playing at right back

The best right back since I've been watching them has to be Joby Gowshall, solid reliable defender who gave his all. As for a good left back surely Chris Withe has to be in for a shout if only for his chicken dance?
