How to throw a game away.....BUFC 1-3 Giuesley
« on: November 17, 2012, 05:44:40 PM »
After playing really well early on and scoring a good goal, BUFC decided to take a leaf out of the THFC football manual and surrendered 2 easy goals to their visitors....shame really because IMO we didnt deserve to lose the game and there were some fine individual performances....AVB and JL must both be extremely frustrated....

Those first two goals were terrible goals to concede. The equalliser came our free kick for goodness sake.

But I agree when you say that there were some good performances from us out there.

Just so frustrated at losing like that.

I'm not one for getting on the managers back but enough is enough. We were poor in the second period and I'm sorry but jason lee did not show any commitment today he never stood up and shouted any instructions until the 76th min by then the game was over why or why did he not bring a sub on a lot earlier poor decision the lad might have made an impact earlier.

You must have missed out the dug out first half. I've not seen JL so animated. Two of our subs are 17yr old lads.
Lets be honest Guiseley are a good side and if we hadn't gifted them two goals we should have at least had a draw. We also hit the post and Newey missed a couple you would expect him to get.
Excuses over :)

To be honest I'm surprised that we only let in 3 because our Midfield was non existant today they had so much time and space. And yes our subs were only 17 but they are bufc players and able to score goals it was a matter of getting young fit legs on the pitch and trying to create a chance

We were beaten by a better team they kept the ball well and dominated midfield that's why we need a battling midfielder who can break the play up and protect the back four it wasn't a bad performance they were just better

First half we where the better side, deservedly went in front then gifted them the equalizer by leaving Jelly 1 on 1 with their player for the free kick. We where a post width away from retaking the lead just before half time. A comical second early in the second then meant they could play the ball around and we didn't really get near them in the second half.

Don't think there is a magical formula or player needed, we gifted a very good team 2 goals and you can't afford to do that. We've had a really tough run of games, we now have a run of (on paper) easier games. We need to make the most of these a string 5 or 6 wins together to put us in a decent position. I personally think we are capable but traditionally we struggle against the likes of Solihull, we've got to put teams like that to bed if we want to challenge for the play-offs, which I don't think is out of the question yet.

Edit: Think some of the fans at the ground need to get a reality check. Some of the negative sh*t spouted today isn't going to help. I noticed some of the players weren't too impressed with the abuse that was being directed towards them, if it where me I'd question why I bother putting the effort in (which they undoubtedly do every game).

Beaten by a very good passing side. With one of the best play-makers i have seen between the sticks for them. Ive said we are a good bench away from really competing with the very best. Options on the bench are very limited. Smith was unlucky not to put us 2 up when he rattled the bar. But a couple of slack bits of defending made it difficult. Guiseley passed the ball well and took their few chances, on another day we would have taken ours and won

I support you entirely with that woad. Folks need to look at the great run of games we've had.

And personally I don't give a monkeys toss about the in and outs. Look at the big picture.
This isn't just about football now.
Survival is key and business is paramount. Do what you can to help the club.
This is not a test of confidence, we need serious people doing all they can to help.
Moaning and being miserable is not helpful.
Everyone knows the personal and business issues in the current environment.
This is about doing what you can as an individual. Giving what you can, no pressure.
We all know the struggles of various groups of the population and the individuals.
Let's end up top in what ever way that means. BUFC deserves to survive.

And people also remember that its now 4 home defeats from 7 league games.

Once again we gift stupid goals through a lack of the basics.......for my money the goalkeeper is fast becoming a liability and he's chucked some silly ones in again today which turned a promising start into a predictable tale of lost home points.

Once again Jones ploughed a lone furrow up front, I lost count of the times we had 10 men in our penalty box with him on his own with 2 or 3 defenders with him. We pack our own box but give Holsgrove an acre of space for the 3rd goal........it was just poor.

However......we're still in touching distance of the top 4 or 5.

On chances we edged it. On holding onto the ball, passing and running off the ball they were miles better. They outclassed us football wise and are easily the best team imo we have played this season.

Thought we lost to the a better team on the day. Our options were limited by the non appearence of Korey Dyer-Stewart. Was he wearing an invisibility cloak? Anybody know where he was?

Got to agree Tash Guiseley are the best side we've played this season, which makes it all the more galling that we gifted them 2, probably all 3 goals through really basic stuff.

First goal, we where 1 up with 2 minutes to go to half time, at that stage we need to get to half time still in the lead so you don't throw everyone bar Jells forward for a free kick. Personally don't think Haystead was at fault for that he was left woefully exposed.

Second goal, a comedy of errors really, lost the ball again with lots of players up the pitch, Wardy nicks the ball then plays a stupid back pass instead of smashing it out the ground. Still Haystead should of done the same, not sure how he managed to miss the ball completely.

Third goal, nobody picks up Holsgrove on the back post from a free kick. Yes they passed the ball really well but all 3 goals they haven't opened us up, we've made schoolboy errors. The defending today was something I thought we'd cut out and is what cost us some valuable points earlier in the season. We really need to string an unbeaten run together now until the new year, as I said in an earlier post we've got a favorable run of games.

When I sat behind Lee the other week his orders were crap! He reminded me of the Sunday League managers! Push up etc.
