« on: October 07, 2012, 12:06:08 PM »
Who do we want then? A big derby game with Lincoln or Grimsby? Or a winnable home tie?

It's a north/south divide for the draw on Monday. Below are not the official listings (e.g. I've assumed that they're split into two equally sized pots) but should give a guide as to potential opponents.

North

AFC Telford United
Alfreton Town
Altrincham
Barrow
Barwell or Workington
Boston United
Bradford Park Avenue
Bury Town
Chester or FC Halifax Town
Colwyn Bay or Guiseley
FC United of Manchester or Kendal Town (playing today)
Gateshead
Grimsby Town
Harrogate Town
Hednesford Town or Buxton
Hinckley United or Ossett Albion
Histon or Corby Town
Hyde
Ilkeston
Kidderminster Harriers
Lincoln City
Lowestoft Town
Macclesfield Town
Mansfield Town
Marine
Nuneaton Town
Southport
Stalybridge Celtic
Stockport County
Tamworth
Wrexham

South

AFC Totton
Arlesey Town
Bath City or Gosport Borough
Blackfield & Langley
Boreham Wood
Braintree Town
Bromley
Cambridge City or Billericay Town
Cambridge United
Chalfont St Peter or Bishop's Stortford
Chelmsford City
Chippenham Town
Dartford
Dereham Town or Metropolitan Police
Didcot Town
Dorchester Town
East Thurrock United
Eastbourne Borough or Hendon
Ebbsfleet United

Home game with a big gate would be my preference

Of that top list i think there is only Afc Fylde and Bury Town which would be new opponents. I believe we have played all of the others in one competition or another over recent years.

Home to any of the Unibond clubs which gives us the best chance for progression. Not really bothered about drawing "big" opposition at this stage would sooner get a proper big club in round 1.

And Ferret/Adam I'd say every game is winnable, just the percentages get smaller the higher the oppo. So taking your example Ferret I'd guess at about 75% in our favour for a home tie against FCUM. For Adam's derby it'd depend on whether it is home or away but let's say away, I'd give us about a 20% chance at Grimsby and 40% at Lincoln...

We've played Bury Town before in the FA Cup - 4th Nov 1972 Q4 A Bury T 1100 W  3-1  Conde, Froggatt, Svarc

We haven't played Ilkeston FC, either. They're only a couple of years old, though!
I create YouTube videos (BUFC/FM/CM 01-02), and stream Football Manager on Twitch as BostonUnitedFM.

Haven't played Ossett Albion either - just Ossett Town. Wouldn't say no to another trip to Ossett. Not far from Leeds and there's a rather special real ale pub - The Brewer's Pride.

I wasn't counting that as recent!

Are we allowed to dream of bringing Sheffield United down to York Street?
