Searching through a box of old programmes and came across this ...

... I can vaguely remember going to the game but can't remember too much about it. Does anyone recall the score? Or the attendance? Or how much money was raised for the appeal?

For once, Ken's site has let me down - I can't find any details of the match on there!

I've just found the match reports from the Standard & the Echo.

The England Semi-Professional side won 1-0 with a spectacular goal from Paul Davies just before half-time. The attendance was 930 and £1841 was raised for the Hillsborough Disaster Fund.

There's some excellent players in that semi pro XI, most would have made a good living at 3rd & 4th Division level if they'd not had good jobs away from football.

True N/F , I think a few League clubs would liked to have signed Davies,  in my book the
most talented striker to play in non-league.

Talking of Linos, what happened to Chris Wade?

The refs' brother Les was an excellent footballer and could have made the grade if he had been pushed more. I seem to remember Colin ref'd us for a night game in a cup game I think, in the first half he was letting the oposition get away with some seriously bad challenges without getting booked, second half he booked nearly every one.

Chris Wade retired 2 or 3 years ago. Hobbies are now snooker and drinking (not in that order).
