This thread reminds me of something Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton did last year ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/13859143

... I believe he signed some players on the recommendation of fans. Didn't do him much good though - he lost his job mid-season!

In a perfect world it would be a mixture of decent young players who have been released from league clubs and players in the 25-29 age bracket who have played at League 2 or BSP level.

A centre back built like a tank, a ball winning midfielder and a target man would be ideal additions IMO.

A team based on old men`s heads and young men`s legs, preferably with a bit of weight to avoid being knocked off the ball in the penalty area.

An Ellender / White type is a must - a calm head alongside Ward / Stainfield is a must - I have seen plenty of centre halfs dominate us in the air

A mobile kicker in midfield - the Worcester trio dominated the game against us at their place

A brute of a striker - preferably mobile like Worcester had at YS

Grantham player invited for a trial with QPR. Might be worth monitoring developments closely if it doesn't work out at Loftus Road? Don't know the player personally, but presumably he must have a bit going for him?

He is under contract at Grantham so they would require a fee for his services, that aint going to happen given that we have just announced another budget cut.

Anthony Church. Out of contract at Grimsby and has not made a huge impression there.

From Fishy Talk:

>>>>

Contracted for next season (9)

Shaun Pearson
Ian Miller
Bradley Wood
Craig Disley
Serge Makofo
Louis Soares
Liam Hearn
Anthony Elding
Dayle Southwell

Out of Contract (7)

James Mckeown
Gary Silk
Charlie I'Anson
Frankie Artus
Anthony Church
Andi Thanoj
KHM

obviously we need Mckeown, I'Anson and Thanoj straight away, Artus, I'Anson and Silk I think we need as well. I don't think Church is good enough and KHM hasn't done it for me yet, but has potential and probably cheap. Would like Makofo to be gone but he will probably rather get paid and sit in the stands to watch.

So we need a left back, possibly another CB, a central midfielder, two wingers and at least one striker.
