Ex Pilgrim.
« on: August 27, 2009, 10:54:24 AM »

Upon surfing the Internet sites of Unibond Clubs in all the Divisions I stumbled
on Quorn Football Club and was drawn to their midweek match report against
West Midland side Willenhall Town to which Quorn lost. Making his debut for
the Sutton Park side was no less than Julian Jochim. Ambitious as the Quorn
Chairman may be at times he was reputed to have said a few seasons ago and
   I quote:

" I will not entertain at this Football Club any Pre Madona Players"

Wonder whats changed his mind then JJ being the second ex Leicester City player
they have signed in as many weeks, the other being defender Phil Gilchrist.  :-\

This is exactly how it was worded and printed in the local sports rag at the
time of his statement........... obviously the reporter was a massive fan of
the Queen of pop............. I found it quite amusing at the time.......!!!!!

Looks like he's signed for Quorn according to this article on the Walsall Mad site.

Quorn of the Unibond Division One South have signed ex-City star Julian Joachim in hope of kick starting their season after a poor opening.

Joachim, now 34-year has had around £4 million spent on him in transfer fees during his career made his debut in Quorn’s 2-0 home defeat to bottom of the league Willenhall on Tuesday night. A result which keeps them last but one in the league, because of Willenhall starting the season on -10 points:

Joachim burst on to the scene at Leicester and was part of the England U18 side that won the European Championships in 1993 before winning nine England Under 21 caps.

He moved to Aston Villa for £1.5 million in 1996 and over the course of five years starred in 141 games and scored 39 times for Villa in the Premier League including an appearance in the 2000 FA Cup Final, but injuries began to take their toll and hamper his game, which was all about pace.

He dropped a level to Coventry for £2 million in 2001 before spells at Leeds United, Walsall, Boston, Darlington and Kings Lynn.

He moved to Walsall signed by Paul Merson, his 6 goals in 8 games helped Walsall avoid a second relegation in two seasons. Despite the club wanting him for the next season, Joachim instead chose to join his home club Boston, who were then big spending (out of their means), before adminstration and relegation. As their most valuable asset, a year later Joachim was sold to Darlington but this did little to recover their debts.

Out of our means ..out of our depth..are we still seen as a bit of a  basket case by others ?
Think Conference is maybe a realistic long -term goal ..
