I think what the list shows is that the attendance on Saturday, while disappointing, is hardly the catastrophic end of the world doomsday situation that some people seem to be almost willing to happen.
It’s also a bit futile to moan about people staying away from matches because the product is poor. That’s just human nature. While it’s obviously the case that if people stuck by the team in lean times there’d be more money in the bank for the club to get back on its feet, that just never happens because the logic is lost on people who believe the club owes them entertainment - which, away from the hardcore supporters, tends to be the default view of most. The club isn’t a charity after all - people will stop handing money over if they think they’re getting naff all in return. It’s not like anyone willingly hands over cash to watch a crap film at the cinema simply to ensure the studio can make a better one next time.
The stark fact is that Boston United isn’t a financial powerhouse and has a modest budget that has to be creatively managed. Jason Lee has immediately run into problems because people, rightly or wrongly, think he’s made underwhelming use of the resources given to him, but haven’t really given the team much of a chance to show what they can do. I’ve already seen messages elsewhere effectively writing off the season and predicting a return to the dark days of the Unibond era of the mid 90s. Which, after three games, is a bit harsh!
