I was speaking to someone who has known JJ  since he was at school and he told me that JJ looks the fittest he has for years and seems pretty determined to perform to a high standard. I am not saying he is going to be brilliant or rubbish, but maybe people are judging him on his last few seasons performances when maybe he wasn't fit or had his head on the game. I will reserve judgement on all signings and are chances next year, but if we lose the first, second and third game I won't get on players or managers backs. Judgement should be over the whole season.

If JJ gets his chances to play on a regular base im sure that he will get as many goals as SWD did last season, I think SWD only got 12? as our main striker that was not good enough. Come on it depressing seeing so many negative comments, I hope that you moaners don't sit near me all season?

woad_pilgrim, I can agree with some points you make. I will respect and defend peoples right of speech. I will not always respect their views. I will challenge them and if I wish give my opinion. That's the way the world goes round. Whilst not one of this forums most prolific posters, I do on occasion get sick and tired of the miserable sods bleating on. I do think others sometimes jump on this despairing, mournful bandwagon. Frankly, people of David Newtons ilk are saints putting up with some of the diatribe.

At no point have I critisized Dave Newton, and tbh if I where it wouldn't be on a fans forum. Having spoken to him several times at games I'd go direct to Dave himself. I'd never be so uncouth or cowardly as to do it on here behind an anonymous name. Personally I'm quite happy with how the club is being run and don't think DN has made any mistakes so far.

Also I have no issue with you giving an opinion this is what I had issue with:

Stop this miserable, depressing, crap it's infectious. They are competitors. Winning is their way. Support the club. Support the players and support L & L.

That is what I took exception to, as customers (a term I don't really like but that is what we are) we are entitled to critisize if we see fit, especially if we have been used to a superior product and as has been said are being asked to pay more for what most believe is an inferior product.

Anyway let's look at it another way, of the 9 sigings so far I only think 2 are poor which is 22.22%, so I'm 77.78% happy  :D

Well . . let's  just amuse ourselves ?  by thinking formations .. how they would slot in .
I would use the Scouse arrowhead as favored by  Liverpool when those Spaniards were there .
       viz . .
                                            Stones/ Suez

                                 Hols                          Newsh/Semps

                                                Hall

                                Another                  Another/Parker

                Wobbly         Canns                 Austi                  J F .

                                              Bazz

With who we've signed so far a 4-1-3-1-1:

                                              Bazza

Canners                 Austin                     Ward                   Jelly

                                            Holsgrove

                                             Suarez

I'll go with that WP ..
Parka can field the clearances that go over Sleathies head  !( when he is back)
Bit worried that Canns may get injured a lot . . if he plays regularly .

I neither have been publicly critical of David Newton. My private conversations with him are personal and frank.
Well I must say WOAD, I never anticipated the use of the old defensive card from you! Perhaps you misunderstood?
The final sentance was not pointed to any ONE person, other than those too whom it applies! David will of course have briefings, including obvious gathering of information of postings on forums. (If of interest!!)

I refer you to my original points
"Stop this miserable, depressing, crap it's infectious. They are competitors. Winning is their way. Support the club. Support the players and support L & L." Not applicable to some of course!

I know that David has briefings including obvious gathering of information of postings on forums. (If of interest!!)
I'm sure Dave is interested in what supporters (customers) think the club are not doing well as well as the stuff it is doing well, as long as it's constructive of course.

Anyhow I've moved on now we have 15 players signed on so there's room for 4 more, maybe 5. I'm guessing 2 centre mids another defender, another striker and if we can afford a 5th then a winger/striker. I'm going to see who else signs before making any further comment, L&C maybe saving their best signings till last...

Goodnight

You've not won me over I still have the same views, just we were going round in circles which was pretty pointless.

GHM how do you know Hocking isn't signing?
