New season, same old problems.
« on: August 09, 2009, 06:11:19 PM »
So that's the first weekend put to bed. So far, I have seen:

A photo in the Daily Mail showing shirt pulling (Middlesbrough v Sheffield United),

Persistent diving in the penalty area going unpunished (Coventry City v Ipswich Town),

Mass scrums at corners (Community Shield),

Elbowing - Ballack on Evra (ditto),

Ploughing through at high risk of injury - Evra on Ballack (ditto)

and Managers challenging referees without respect (Ferguson among others).

Even our dear friend at Crawley is not his usual angelic self, accusing referees for having the temerity to breath.

All in all, I am glad that I am watching lower level football, where we all behave (players and supporters) with total dignity and an attitude of fair play..... don't we?

I think those things are what make the game, it would be pretty dull if everything was perfect.

Take Chelsea's second goal, that was some great drama.

And on a lower league note, we tend to get the rough stuff, and everyone seems to be bigger than us.
