Eastwood, like Guiseley, Alfreton and Telford, play a brand of football that is very difficult to play against at this level, and their league position demonstrates this. They all have big, powerful players in most positions.
I think it's a bit harsh to call it hoofball - watching Guiseley the other night, they were all long ball for most of the game, but they were generally targeted long balls to the big front man, and they supported him well. They didn't just aimlessly lump the ball forward or out of play. Any team with that sort of size, strength and pace (in the right areas) will do well in this league - not so sure about the next step up though - a bit more guile might be needed in BSP?
Did anyone really mind that we were predominantly route one when we won the Conference? Or when we finished second in the NPL the year that the forms weren't completed - that season we ended up with Martin Filson leading the attack and played very little football but ground out results at the end of the season.
Fair comment about Cox and his budget - I'm not totally convinced he would be right but he'd be better than a Drury, a Little or a Lyttle! It will be very interesting to see who gets the job and I trust David Newton & Co to get the right man/men
