According to the Metrolink web site Metrolink services will be suspended from 1 August and start running again on Tuesday 1 September 2009. So basically it doesn't look like there is a tram service to Bury on Saturday!

It says that frequent replacement buses will run between all key stops as well as direct services. It also contradicts itself by saying that trams will still be running from Victoria to Bury, so I'm not sure what's going on. Other contradictions such as saying you must by a Metrolink ticket before boarding the replacement bus and you must buy your Metrolink ticket from the driver on the Metrolink bus.

So as per usual public transport in Manchester is a total shambles.  :o

It's the Altrincham and Eccles lines that are closed, not the Bury line.
I create YouTube videos (BUFC/FM/CM 01-02), and stream Football Manager on Twitch as BostonUnitedFM.

Gigg Lane is 1 mile south of Bury station - a gentle 20 minute stroll.

Hi FCUM fan here looking forward to saturday. The tram is fine from Manchester Victoria to Bury. Its closed in the city centre between Piccadilly and Victoria. You can walk in 15 mins down Market Street, turn right to the big wheel (stop at Sinclairs Pub by the wheel which has bitter at £1.50 a pint). Victoria Station is behind Sinclairs at the side of Manchester Cathedral. Tram takes 25 mins to Bury. There is a replacement bus between Piccadilly and Victoriaif you don't fancy the walk.

When you get to Bury the quickest way is a taxi to the ground £3'ish or 15 min walk down Manchester Road. Enjoy the day you'll find FCUM fans in the Staff of Life and Packhorse and we'll make you most welcome. It will be good to have a few away fans for a change. Safe journey to Manchester (well Bury) and back.

The trafalgar sounds good, I had a couple of bottles of Jennings the other day, very nice(available from Sainsburys(I can't help but do a bit of advertising)) though I see a pub does deucars ( can't spell) another tasty beer, in fact I may struggle getting out the pub!
