Would like to see how he goes in Championship - as I suggested a week or two ago, I think a mid-table Champs side would suit him.  It can be done - who would have expected Smalling to step up so quickly?

Shaun's not a teenager so he needs to move up quicker than going up one division (or hopefully same division!) to Grimsby.

He's not the quickest but not the slowest - bear in mind he wasn't fully fit in middle part of season.  With full time training he could also improve fitness/pace.  We all know he's going to go, so let's make the most of him for the next 6 games and wish him well.

I think Walshy should get some praise for recommending the former managers about SP!

For what its worth, as i said i think its just banter. I do think he will move on but to Grimsby reasons being- full time,  working everyday with managers he knows who were both defenders at lower league, but most importantly playing every week which at his age is important and to use it as a stepping stone for a move up a div or two in a season or two.

Hope so.
