Hertford Town v BUFC

East Anglian Cup Final

Its not listed in the fixtures, I picked the programme up today in a very tidy collection of BUFC items.

Very interesting. It's an early season game and the East Anglian Cup Finals were usually at the end of the season. Now the previous season Boston had won their games in the EA Cup but I couldn't find any result for the final, so presumably it was held over to the following August. Was there any information about each club's progress to the final in the programme? Boston also beat Hertford in the EA Cup final in 1960/1. That one took place in May 1961. I'll have to have a dig around in the Library next time I'm over.

Uxbridge (H) 3-0
Wealdstone (h) 1-0
St Albans (A) 1-0
Oxford City (A) 2-0
Ilford (A) S/F 3-0

And we got there via

Biggleswade (H)
Spalding (A)
Holbeach (H)
 no scores available

Cambridge City (A) 4-3

Boston Team was

As an aside the programme notes that Birch who played inside left for us was an original Busby Babe.

Thanks Andy.

The Hertford Town web site says that they won it in front of a home crowd of 3000.

It was a carry over from the previous season, so I have all the other results and lineups.
