The Alfreton Game
« on: March 17, 2011, 02:41:06 PM »
I guess this is generally recognised as the best game seen in years at York Street.
Is there any chance of a DVD being done of it?

I spoke to Craig and Cookie about it only yesterday.
See how approachable and accommodating our management are.
Top work.
What great Christmas presents!

Is this a joke? A DVD of a win against Alfreton? FFS, how small-time can you get?

No it is not smalltime but clever marketing by the club for those fans who could not get to the game or for those who wish to relive the highlights in the comfort of their own homes.Personally i prefer to think of it as a great game and now lets press on to the playoffs and look forward to the Harrogate game.

As someone who used to attend every home game for more years than I care to remember,I cannot afford to get to many games, would loved to have gone on Tuesday but three games in a week on very low income was impossible,so this is one way for me to see a United game..

It seems to me that no matter what the club does someone will always moan, one minute it is because of lack of match videos the next it is because the club have released one...

I also remeber when Manchester City beat spurs 4-3 that was on sale on DVD the next day so does that mean the richest football club in the world are also small time??

We are Blue Square North small time.

However, we are punching well above our weight and Tuesday nights match was pretty damn good thanks!

I'd have thought DVDs should be for cup finals, seasons where you've won something or outstanding cup wins over teams from higher up the pyramid.

Still, if you want to commemorate a win of Alfreton Town, fair play to you.  :D

In fairness i don't think it is to 'commemorate' beating Alfreton, i think its down to the pure fact that the match was a classic, it was 'one of those nights' people will be eager to have one so in a few years time when things arn't going so well they can stick this game on and say 'ah those were the days'

I follow Newcastle as well as Boston and the Toon have released a couple of DVD's this year, obviously the 5-1 victory over Sunderland is one but the 4-4 draw with Arsenal has also recently been released.

As has been said, DVD's of matches are not always released to commemorate wins, they're put out there for memorable matches as well, and that's not small-time in any way at all. To think that way is small minded in all honesty. It's just good business sense.

And as you can see, there's clearly some demand for this DVD so it looks like the club have made the right decision.
