955...............
« on: January 11, 2011, 11:02:09 PM »
Thats how many people bothered to turn up at York Street tonight.....when was the last time we had an attendance figure for a league game of less than 1000?.....For goodness sake I  know theres a recession etc,but 955 is really disappointing IMO.....we are 5th in the league, playing decent footie, and theres a buzz about the club so where was everybody tonight ? It wasnt THAT cold.......

It was that cold, and a miserable day.
I was one of the 955, but with all the posponed matches staying in the warm can become a habit.

Fairly sure the gates will pick up once the football becomes regular again... A fragmented last couple of months and uninspiring last two results was always going to mean a small crowd tonight but I agree sub-1000 was disappointing. All the postponements are probably going to mean a lot of home games in a short period at some point, so I think the club might suffer a bit with people having to pick and choose games, but another round or so in the Trophy will hopefully cover up for that.

They missed a good game and a win !
Everyone had a month of no footy to save money so that's hardly an excuse for not going. Some people are saying that 4 home matches in a row is too expensive after Xmas. 4 home matches can cost you as little as £44, nothing to pay these days compared to what you could waste your money on.  Bet Saturday will be equally as poor as it's a cup match. Time for Pilgrim fans to put their money where their mouth is. The lads are playing good football and are getting back into their stride after the winter break, they need your support !

A number of things may have affected the attendance - football on BBC, a number of home games in a row, it's midweek, cold weather etc.

Not sure the 955 figure is a reason to be concerned, every team will have peaks and troughs in their attendances. Besides, United have examplary crowds 9 times out of 10 anyway, the envy of the league!

First sub 1000 for a while in the league though, people have just got out of the habit.  I'm usually a home and away supporter come rain or shine but I nearly missed last night due to work and missed Gloucester in favour of watching my lad play so if I can do that then surely your floater fan will be finding it hard to get back to.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

I admire all those who can afford to attend every match. Perhaps you would consider a subsidy scheme for all of those who cannot. Two adult tickets, one child ticket, plus the expense of christmas, oh and lets not forget the fact that some of us have jobs where pay is not that much above minimum wage.

However im sure the kids wont mind not eating for a few days so we can attend some football matches.....

I suggest you think a little about other peoples personal circumstances before you spew utter crap out of your misguided mouths.

it was a bit below par but not that much really taking into account it was a night match.night fixtures have always been lower than sat games same as cup games are as well.

JP, I take it you are offering me and a couple of others who live more than 150 miles away and are season ticket holders/regulars at Saturday games (and midweek when work commitments allow) a lift for the next midweek home game then....thanks.  If you leave about midday, we'll see you about 3.00PM in central London? Return trip to the Essex coast and the leafy southern suburbs, you'll be back home by about 4.00 in the morning.....get a couple of hours sleep and I'll give you a ring when I catch the train back to work in the morning.

Sorted.

Why complain about the attendance figure for last night, a lot of clubs in this and other Leagues would love 955 people to turn up on a Saturday, let alone a mid-
week game!!!!! ???

Ill agree with what was said the other week, A large amount of people here work on the land etc, where work as been hard to find so a lot have got some big cash flow problems at the moment and may have to pick there games for a while.

Doesn't help when the last train to leave boston is at half 9, so most of the second half would be missed if i was to still get that train, hence why i couldn't be there.

I count myself very lucky to be able to attend games at home and away but I would never forget those who are not so fortunate, those who graft hard for little reward and have to prioritise with family always coming first. Lets not forget also the retired who have to survive on a pathetic state pension and whos entry cost can be as much as 10% of that, at two games per week He/ She has to prioritise.
As I said I am very lucky and if there is anyone out there who would like to attend an away game I usually have room for two, Im going anyway so I dont want money, I also think others who are in my position should consider offering the same opportunities to others I am sure this would help in making our support one big happy family.
Anyone interested pm me.

Mostly down to cost i believe , but this is no excuse .  Follow my example and make the wife cancel her hair appointments , and reduce housekeeping by 10% .  Looked like only 15 visiting fans last night,  BSP play-off contenders Kidderminster and R & D would have had less than us if they had not got the visiting support.         See you kept up the good form again last night FT .
