Boston United chairman David Newton remains cool on contracts for Pilgrims duo


BOSTON UNITED chairman David Newton has reiterated he is in no rush to tie Rob Scott and Paul Hurst to new contracts after holding talks with the management duo.

Scott and Hurst have emerged as one of the hottest management teams outside the Football League after back-to-back promotions with Ilkeston and Boston, prompting some Pilgrims fans to fear they could be prised away from York Street.

The pair's long-term future with United was among a series of topics on the agenda during this week's discussions.

But Newton (pictured above) insists numerous factors must be taken into consideration before handing the highly-rated duo fresh deals.

"I don't want to sound like a stuck record, but we're not getting hung up about it," said the York Street chief.

"We had a meeting and contracts were mentioned, as were a lot of other things.

"We spoke about where we think the club is going, plans for the future and where we can improve.

"We discussed budgets depending on what league we are in. We have to take into account what could happen in the future.

"We could not go up and struggle next season or we could go up and have to think about going full-time.

"There are all sorts of factors to take into consideration."
