Yes, puuuuu ppubb perrrrrrr
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

Afraid so. When we won the World Cup in '66 we began with a boring goalless draw against Uruguay which saw the dropping of a certain Jimmy Greaves to be replaced by Geoff Hurst................the rest is written in the annals of history!

Thought Jimmy got injuried?  Then failed to win his place back.  I could be wrong, I was only a nipper ;)

Greaves sustained his injury in the final group game against France (and so played for half of the tournament). He was unfit for the quarter-final against Argentina, and not fully recovered for the semi-final against Portugal. He was however fit to play in the final, but Ramsey refused to change a winning team for reasons of team morale. We cannot argue that Ramsey was wrong in his decision, but it has been suggested that Greaves' subsequent alcoholism was as a direct result of his disapointment.
Fortunately Jimmy eventually dealt with his condition.

Personally this is the worst World Cup i can remember . I have little interest in it other than England and only match i watched in it's entirity was our first one .

Those bloody horns dont help but it just seems bland to me . I'm hoping the knockout stages liven it up but at the moment i can certainly take it or leave it .

With the World Cup in South Africa the games in  Oz are timed at 2 or 3am in the morning. My interest is restricted to watching the goals on the News next day. It's difficult to generate any interest at all with the timing.
