Salisbury following in Pilgrims footsteps!
« on: May 20, 2010, 08:46:02 PM »
Spare a thought for the supporters of Salisbury City. Their club released a a statement today saying they have been told they will not be eligible for Conference football next season, having fallen foul of the infamous Appendix E rule.

This may well mean a reprieve for Forest Green but there is speculation  that FGR do not want a reprieve due to their own dire financial situation and may apply for voluntary relegation (akin to Grays)

Histon also appear to be struggling to put together a competitive budget for the BSP league next season if rumours are to be believed.

With more and more ex-league clubs in the BSP it appears harder for progressive non-league teams to be able to meet the financial demands of remaining in the BSP - not unlike championship clubs who gain promotion to the Premier league.

Wouldn't that reprieve Ebbsfleet?

Ebsfleet and FGR were both due to play in the BS South next season but FGR gained one more point and position than Ebbsfleet so should be the team to be reprieved.

Here is another link that shows how hard Salisbury have tried to get their house in order and missed the dreaded 2nd Saturday in May by a few weeks - not unlike our first season back in the BSN.

The relegated teams should stay relegated so rather than reprieving them they should let the losing play-off final teams from the BSN or BSS take their places.
