Ilkeston captain leaving.......
« on: May 05, 2010, 08:54:00 PM »
Football: Ilkeston Town captain Kieran Murphy is leaving the club in the hope of resuming his career in central defence.

Murphy, 23, joined Ilkeston two summers ago. He is studying at Loughborough University and began his football career as a boy of eight when he was signed by Wimbledon.

Some Ilson fans think he could end up at Boston. certainly got the right pedigree and S&H will know him well.

hes also recovered from a nasty injury (fractured skull) so maybe hes a bit worried about sticking his head in where it hurts.

Apparently was fed up being played out of position at full back. Was being kept out of the central defender pairing because of their good form and couldn't break back in again. Wants to find a club where he can play central defence, his preferred position. Obviously thinks he is up to sticking his head in again.

However S&H do prefer their players to be versatile and to be able and prepared to play in more than one position. His determination to play central defence might well count against him.

Anybody remember him - seen him play?

Scott and Hurst don't seem to go for the awkward stubborn type and rightly go for the team players like Newsham who has played wide left with a smile on his face since SWD made the striker position his own.

Murphy was Hurst and Scotts managers player of the year when they were at Ilkeston,he is a very good centre half and the club would benifit if they managed
to sign him.
I think you will see this will be one one of the first signings they make ! ! !

they do.last season they said versatile players was what they wanted because of there budget.they certainly made it work so if the budget was a bit better, which it may not be,them tactics would work again for them, but i must say it does look just the player they would sign
"till saturday comes"

Pearson isn't captain - Canners is club captain.
I create YouTube videos (BUFC/FM/CM 01-02), and stream Football Manager on Twitch as BostonUnitedFM.
