North Ferriby will play the East Riding Cup final at Hulls KC Stadium. Retford will compete for the Notts Senior Cup final at Notts Conty. Surely the Tinpot league Cup final could have been played at Sincil Bank or Mansfield,  at least.
did it really matter

Retford probably had more of the possesion, but we had the quality. Most of Retfords efforts were from distance, and when they did get through Butcher was in excellent form.We also had one disallowed(harshly)for handball, hit the bar and had another hacked off the line.Retford seemed rather subdued i thought, and they hardly conceded a foul.A very quiet game in comparison to our previous meetings.A special well done to the lads who haven't had much game time-Aaron Butcher,Mark Camm,Liam Parker and Simon Ashton who were all excellent. At least it took my mind off Saturday for a while.............................

Yep. pretty good summay, for all their possesion always thought we were in control and every time we came forward looked liked scoring, don't know about the pitch invasion at the end though, made the presentation very sunday league, will be much better saturday i've no doubt.

Please forgive me for saying this but Retford didn't play as dirty as I expected. The ref certainly awarded them 90% of the free kicks on the night but you can't blame Retford for a ref who saw very little of their fouls and seemed very much against Boston. Retford, I think, did have the majority of play but they did a lot of huffing and puffing without blowing the house down. And at the presentation Duffield walked around our players and shook their hands(watches and rings were checked for after the event). So some credit to them on the night, a different performance from them compared to our previous encounters. Now about Boston. BLOODY FANTASTIC. Special mention of Aaron Butcher. Made some terrific saves and looked solid. A great future prospect as No 1 keeper. Newshams goal, for me best goal of the season. Yates didn't skip down the left, he was like a rabbit, and his cross was perfect and Newshams touch was brilliant (his dad was so excited by it I thought he was going to have sex with me, pleased he didn't). A great all round performance by a side far too good for this league. Congrats to everyone especially the managers. Who can question their decisions now. I certainly wont.
Ps. Their big and bald No 6 was noticeable for his absence at the presentation. Expected to find him outside the ground waiting to sort out all the Boston fans. Do you know, if it wasn't for his temperament he could be a damn good player.

Now they have nothing to play for, they might go easy on North Ferriby on Saturday! Sour grapes etc!!

Can't add much more than that we seemed to have more of a will to win than Retford who seemed a shadow of their former selves. Up front all their possession came to nothing by wayward shooting Our defence (who had never played together in this formation) contained them nicely. When called upon Butcher was excellent, solid on crosses and made a couple of decent saves. It was intriguing watching Newsh/Semple play in central striking roles and they didn't dissappoint! The quality of our finishing was superb, you won't see better. Newsh's finish from the cross would graced  any league and Semple had a hell of a lot to do when he received the ball out on the right before cutting in beating a defender, shifting the ball to his left foot before curling it nicely into the far post. That was it,  job done!
No extra time,a decent confidence booster for the squad and now all focus is on the big prize.
Retford came in  to the dressing room to find their season had imploded, no play-offs thanks to Kendal, the manager's had enough and their main sponsor effectively  not paying the players wages. Maybe they could do with a certain heavy boned Scottish manager to turn things round next season!  ?  ;D(If Fergie decides to stay at Old Trafford).
Coach 3 to Marine here I come!

May 2nd Final match
« Reply #22 on: April 22, 2010, 12:38:42 PM »
Been away a few days so this may have been covered before. Am I right that if we (when we) beat Marine on Saturday, we then play FC Halifax Town at home on the following Saturday for another trophy. If it is what a great day that could be with Halifax bringing some 1000 plus supporters and us having the chance to parade four trophies around York Street.

Not necessarily oxo.Halifax play Mickleover Sports(Div 1 South)winners for the right to play us.

For the right to play the winners of the league, let's not get over confident now!

Just echoing what's already been said but to me Retford looked a shadow of the team that we've seen before, only Elly looked like he wanted to win. Could it be repurcussions from the big resignation? And what's that all about anyway, seems to be very low key, not like the Retthug we've come to know and love this season>
