Player of the season
« on: March 26, 2010, 08:44:28 PM »
Soon be time to get voting. The last couple of seasons i've thought is it worth bothering! This year though i think it will be a close thing, there are plenty to choose from. All the strikers for a start, two midfielders could be in for it, also a very young centre half could be in with a chance too. Anyone got any suggestions?

Yeah, in my opinion I think it should come down to either Church or Pearson. I will be going for Pearson. Just. He just looks like he belongs at a higher level and I will be amazed if he is still here at the start of next season, whichever league we are in.

Yep,it's Pearson or Church for me with Pearson just edging it.I'd love to see him stay another season, especially if we get promoted but wouldn't be surprised to  see him go on to bigger things in the summer.

From a short list of...

Newsham,
Church,
Pearson
and SWD.

Newsham won't get it cos some people think he is lazy.
Church might get over looked as he mainly does the donkey stuff which some don't appreciate.
Pearson has been a rock throughout but in a free scoring team (something we've not had for a while) he might get over looked too.
SWD is a bit too hit and miss although he is our named star which always gets you votes.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

Danny Davidson gets my vote;  his goals and performances mean possible play-offs and also that we might see Suarez for another season  :-X

I really think Pearson has been fantastic, like others on here i'm sure he'll go on to better things. Looking back at the season now there's not many that's been playing first team football that's really let us down. The Chestnuts should be getting something from us for putting us back on the radar and for cleansing the club. H&S should be getting something for turning this club around and making us feel proud of the football we see each week.  I'm not sure who i'll vote for really, Church for getting stuck in every week, Sleath for his hard work and then popping up with some cracking goals. DD for his goals and putting him self about, when was the last time we had a centre forward who stood up to defenders. I really think this year will be one of the tightest for Player Of The Season we've had in years.  In fact all we need is one big prize and that's moving up a league.  :)

My choice is Pearson but the most refreshing thing about this seasons player of the season for me is that any of the lads have a chance and if I could I would vote them all. I am trying to recall the last time I saw such enthusiasm for the team as a whole and this is credit to all at the club from top to bottom who in such a short time have given us a club to be proud of once again. There is a fear we may lose the likes of Pearson but if everyone supports the new fund raising super draw perhaps the club can offer a bit more cash wise to persuade them to stay and move forward with Boston United.

Come on, it has to be Spencer Weir-Daley.

I wasn't impressed the first games I saw him play at Nantwich and Stocksbridge - he wasn't fit and was offside nearly every time we broke forward, but he has got better and better each game since. Last Saturday against Nantwich he was amazing. One of the most skilful displays I've ever seen from a Boston player. Fifteen goals in nineteen starts speaks for itself.

It's time for our first hyphenated Player of the Year!

Weir-Daley has gone missing in some of the bigger away games though. Pearson and Church only go missing when they are out or suspended.  I always have a feeling with Weir-Daley that he could give more but doesn't.

That said, we're nit picking as they all have been 200% better than last years sham.

i am with you on all of that senny, unfortunately totaly agree that he will more than likely be moving to bigger pastures and to be honest if we get out of this league i wont care to much who gets it afterall it is a dificult one to pick this season

Such a tough choice, Pearson, Church, Sleath or SWD for me.

That saying if Pearson goes will we get anything for him? Hes under 24 so am i right in thinking if we offer him the same or improved terms we will be entitled to compensation?

It will be a shame if our star players left for free, however, the club that buys him will have to be bigger than us or hed probably rather stay

I don't want to go on about how much I rate Pearson but I am now in my 25th season of following us home/away and he really, really stands out to me. He just plays like no-one else I have seen at this level. Well, in that position.

In the past, I loved Hardy, Rennie, Hoyle et al but he just looks even more the part. I don't know how far he will go but I wish him all the best.
