The B-Ark / Re: Structures?
« on: December 31, 2009, 10:13:37 PM »
I am currently project managing a scheme that reuses an existing steel structure, which we are adding to increase the roof height. this is a £22 million scheme, I am also the project manager on 4 other schemes totalling £40 million, I think it's probably safe to say I know what I am talking about.
It isn't my intention to throw cold water on your ideas, everything is up for debate, but I have said before, it's the infrastructure, and fit out that costs the money, the structure is relatively less cost, there are other ways to save money, rather than using structures exposed to the elements for 30 years.
An effective Tendering process, along with good project management and tight brief control, will deliver value.

The challenge will be generating money, a bigger challenge than saving it. Check today's press on Southend united.

Why would you reuse a structure that is over 30 years old?
The cost to remove and install, the cost to transport, it's more viable to build a new structure.

I am doing a project at the moment that reuses an existing structure, it very difficult, there is a cost benefit to us, but it's more a sustainability benefit than a financial one

Morecambe sold their ground to a supermarket, hence the available money.
Southend and Bristol city have also followed suit. If anyone thinks building a ground costs a couple of million then we are mistaken. Just dealing with the electic and drainage and access could be 3 million. Car park another million. Then stands a million each. Soon get to 10 million. Scary stuff

The team that finishes with 78 points will win the league. That for me is the target. No team has yet averaged 2 points a game. Therefore do that and two to spare and you will have the winner.
You really need 65 for a play off chance.

Let's see if I am right. Likelihood I will be wildly wrong!

Apparently she let the game flow and was better than some of the male refs..

Hardly constitutes a vote of confidence, thats working off a low base to be fair

May seem selfish here. But surely there should be a penalty for not completing their fixtures.
I can understand postponements on the basis of 'act of god' like weather. But not due to financial issues. Look at Durham.
Let's be clear here the fa would have hung us out to dry

Looks like mr chinn is going to save the day! Is that a blessing? I note he is effectively lending them £300k. All sounds ominous on a club that has no assets mmmm all sounds familiar

Frustrating result. But a good entertaining game.

Two points dropped, but at least it had plenty of everything.

As long as we continue to pick up points we will be there abouts, still aliterate of games to go yet

I think it also depends on what terms the player is on. The lad at charlton had no contract with them, so technically they where not entitled to a penny

A friend of mines son signed for man utd in the summer. He is 15 and was at charlton but not on contract. Utd paid compensation but it wasn't disclosed, my mate doesn't know how much, but press said it was over half a million! This lad could have gone anywhere, he started at charlton as it's his local club. He might make it, he might not but charlton where happy to let him move on.

There is value in a youth system , invariably you will get the occasional shining star, and if the big club is ethical then the small club will benefit

oh yes the lads name is sean mcginty, he plays centre half so get you bets on. I just heard his younger brother is also playing for utd!

I would say there is a bigger issue than 65k. That's likely to be the tip of the iceberg

chances are there are plenty of other money issues, and that will put off investors,

They where close to the brink 12 months ago, they may get through this problem. That doesn't mean they are safe

Totally right.
Supporters suffer the short comings of poor leadership at the helm

we are VERY lucky too have such a fantastic team running the club
