The B-Ark / When Saturday Comes

Pete B of this parish has a piece about the Mighty Pilgrims in the new issue of WSC.

Its in their Still with Us slot about ex-football league clubs, which for once is about an ex-league club and not some phoenix effort with a similar name and none of the debts. I'm not saying anything about Pete's article as I've only scanned it briefly and can't quite recall what he said....

The B-Ark / Weather in Boston?
« on: December 08, 2017, 05:42:40 PM »
Hi all

Just after a bit of a heads up regarding the weather in Boston.

I'm on the train from Sheffield in the morning with a couple of Southport fans and I'm just wondering whether there is any chance of the pitch being frozen tomorrow? Its a bit icy up here but I understand you didn't get the snow we had this morning. I'd be grateful for any information, especially in the morning.

But I won't hold you responsible if you say it is OK and the game gets called off after all!

Cheers

John

The B-Ark / Youth team

Just wanted to compliment the youth team on their spirited performance in the Youth Cup last night.

Whilst I thought perhaps we were slightly lucky to get the 1-1 at full time our lads had kept going to get the equaliser in injury time. Then we were unlucky not to win it in extra time, just switching off at a free kick for a moment. And it was a great finish by Louis Saebe to make it 2-1.

The way Mansfield celebrated their equaliser and the penalties win you would have thought they would have won the whole thing, not just avoided getting beaten in the first round...

Its a cheap shot I know (and I realise some of you living more locally than me will have heard this already) but this made me laugh...

Just to say I've not seen them before but last night at Mickleover they looked pretty impressive. Admittedly the opposition wasn't the strongest but they scored a couple of very good goals. And I like the way they tend to pass out of trouble rather than hoofing it forward.

Well done to all concerned.

Just a note to say I'm selling four spare back issues of From Behind Your Fences (7,8,10 and 12) with all proceeds going towards Save the Pilgrims fund.

I'm going to the Stafford game so I can pass them on to the buyer there if that's convenient. Please PM me with any questions...

The B-Ark / Memorable moments of the season
« on: May 02, 2010, 12:05:06 PM »
We've said it before but it bears repeating that for the first time in years we can be proud of our board and our managers and our players. This time last year there was talk of it being Boston's worst season ever and whilst this probably hasn't been been the best one ever, it surely is as good a one as we've had in ages.

But are there any particular moments you remember from the campaign? The penalty at home to Guiseley is one for me. 1-0 down and Newsham already subbed, Danny Sleath just picks the ball up and marches to the spot, not worrying about the inquiring looks from other players. Then he coolly slots it home as if he'd been doing it all season. That game was the one I started believing we might actually win the play-offs...

The B-Ark / Off topic : Notts CCC Annuals
« on: February 09, 2010, 06:02:24 PM »
I know there are a few Notts cricket fans on here so I thought I'd post about the five Notts CCC annuals I found in my Mum's loft this weekend.

They are from 1977-1981 inclusive - I'm not that bothered about cricket nowadays and so am willing to give them to anyone who's interested. I don't want anything but postage (or I could hand them over at the next game we're both at, I'm not there tonight but am at Ashton and Worksop) but if you want you could donate something to the Save the Pilgrims fund.

Drop us a PM if you're interested...
