Evans said before the game when he stops enjoying his football he will go and put his feet up in the sun in one of the many properties he owns abroad.

Even at 10/1 it could be a good price to get a bet on at if we hit the ground running once the first ball is kicked in anger.

After the first half dozen games everyone will have a better idea of who is likely to do what in the coming season and the odds are quickly going to represent that.

As things down the street start to take shape it is looking like a shrewd move by the Chestnuts to plump for our new management duo, although early days yet, and I am thinking the odds offered at the moment are certainly worth a punt.

Hmm, didn't realise before now that Rob Scott was the brother of Brentford manager Andy Scott.

You never know, there could be the possibility of a loan or two from that quarter.

The squad is slowly taking shape although I know little of this latest signing, although that is the way it is going to be at the level we play at.

I have a gut feeling though that this next season could see us making inroads at the top end of the table and starting the long haul back to where this club should be.

Interesting to note that the deal was agreed a couple of weeks ago but the new management did not see the need to big themselves up by jumping the gun and running to the press.

But Hurst and Scott should have known they were dealing with players who were playing beneath themselves as a favour to Boston United.

Heaven forbid, did they expect such super stars to lift an heavy phone receiver themselves or risk repetitive strain by pressing them heavy buttons on their mobiles.

NO, the new managers should have followed up their original phone call by letter (Special Delivery), fax, text and email and failing that special courier.

After all, they did save the club from the footballing wilderness on the last day of last season against the mighty Cammell Laird.

Nice to see the patter back and its refreshing to feel a fresh air starting to blow through the club.
