The B-Ark / Hutton, a slight change of subject.
« on: April 27, 2010, 06:49:37 AM »
Just thought i'd ask your thoughts on the Alan Hutton thingy. He was sent off whilst playing for Sunderland on Sat against Hull. If anyone saw the incident he threw the ball at a Hull player whilst the Hull player was on the floor, who, took umbrage to it and after getting up, decked him. The ref rightly sent the Hull player off, then sent Hutton off, now Sunderland are asking the FA to rescind Hutton's card because as they say, he did nothing wrong.

The B-Ark / Player of the season
« on: March 26, 2010, 08:44:28 PM »
Soon be time to get voting. The last couple of seasons i've thought is it worth bothering! This year though i think it will be a close thing, there are plenty to choose from. All the strikers for a start, two midfielders could be in for it, also a very young centre half could be in with a chance too. Anyone got any suggestions?

The B-Ark / At Durham
« on: March 07, 2010, 06:36:44 AM »
Just checked the OS and read the report. This is only my opinion but the white shirts with black shorts and socks looks so much better than the all white kit. I've never liked the all white kit, it looks a bit insipid to me. Oh and one more thing, why is it that all the shirts and shorts look the same size.   ;)  Anyone else have an opinion on this?  :dan  :bunny

The B-Ark / Club President
« on: February 21, 2010, 09:11:01 AM »
With the sad death of Mr Alf Bell we now have no Club President. Will the club be appointing one and if so, do they have anyone in mind?
What qualifications do you need to be one, do you have to be in regular attendance at matches?
Can you be someone who is a supporter, that doesn't attend matches?
Do you have to be someone that lives in the town?
Could you be someone who is, shall we say famous?
Could John Motson be the sort of person for the job, that is of course if there will be another Club President?

Crawley owners look to clear debt

Winfield's club currently sit 14th in Blue Square Premier
Crawley Town co-owner Bruce Winfield says his aim is for the club to be debt-free by the end of this season.

Loss of television revenue, reduced commercial income and gate receipts have seen a shortfall of around £250,000 in this season's budget.

As a result manager Steve Evans has been forced to sell players and prevented from buying new ones.

Winfield told the club website: "A debt-free Crawley in the months ahead is now a very realistic objective."

He added: "I will not hide from the fact that it is my clear intention and that of my co-owners to have Crawley Town Football Club debt-free by the end of the current season.

At present we do not have the finances to deliver the team on the pitch we all want

Dave Winfield
"That remains very much achievable despite the current financial downturn and this will in turn enable the club to divert income and capital to the current year rather than serving old debts."

Winfield admitted selling players had had an impact on the club's position in the table.

Jon-Paul Pittman, Steve Fletcher, Jake Wright, Danny Bulman, and Jamie Cook have all recently left the club.

"At present we do not have the finances to deliver the team on the pitch we all want but by making the tough decisions lately we can keep players of real quality," Winfield said.

Boss Evans said: "It doesn't stop me from being frustrated and it won't stop me from knocking on his door and asking for players.

"If the result of all this is we get through this period, have a reasonable season and we have a reasonable size budget put in place to give us a chance next season then we're all very much part of the bigger picture."

The B-Ark / from a Grimsby fan, do you think it's a tad harsh?
« on: November 13, 2009, 06:17:01 AM »
Dear Players of Grimsby Town FC

I am writing with regard to my absolute astonishment and disbelief as to the sheer magnitude of your complete lack of talent and failure to carry out the job for which you are paid to do. I am not aware of any swear word or other derogatory phrase in my current vocabulary which comes close to a description of your ‘performance’ (and I use that term loosely) this afternoon, but let me just say that you have collectively reached a level of inadequacy and ineptitude that neither I nor modern science had previously considered possible.

In fact I recall a time, in my youth, when I decided to call in sick at work and instead spent the entire day in my one bedroom flat wearing nothing but my underpants, eating toast and wánking furiously over second-rate Scandinavian porn. Yet somehow, I still managed to contribute more to my employer in that one Andrex-filled day than you complete bunch of toss-baskets have contributed to this club in your entire time here.

I would genuinely like to know how you pathetic little píssflaps sleep at night, knowing full well that you have taken my money and that of several thousand others and delivered precisely fúck all in return. I run a business myself, and I believe I could take any 4,000 of my customers at random; burn down their houses, impregnate their wives and then dismember their children before systematically sending them back in the post, limb-by-limb, and still ensure a level of customer satisfaction which exceeds that which I have experienced at Blundell Park at any time so far this season.

You are a total disgrace, not only to your profession, not only to the human race, but to nature itself. This may sound like an exaggeration, but believe me when I say that I have passed kidney stones which have brought me a greater level of pleasure and entertainment than watching each of you worthless excuses for professional footballers attempt to play a game you are clearly incapable of playing, week-in, week-out.

I considered, for a second, that I was perhaps being a little too harsh. But then I recalled that I have blindly given you all the benefit of the doubt for too long now. Yes, for too long you have failed to earn the air you’ve been breathing by offering any kind of tangible quality either as footballers or as people in general. As such, I feel it’s only fair that your supply runs out forthwith.

I trust, at this precise moment in time, that Mr Fenty is in his office tapping away on the Easyjet web site booking you all one-way flights to Zurich, complete with an overnight stay with our cheese eating friends at Dignitas. Don’t bother packing your toothbrush – you won’t need it.

In the event that our beloved chairman can’t afford the expense (understandable given that he’s soon going to have to assemble a new squad from scratch), then I am prepared to sell my family (including my unborn child) to a dubious consortium of Middle Eastern businessmen in order to pay for the flights. Christ, I’ll drive you there myself, one-by one, without sleep, if I have to.

Failing that, understanding that most dubious Middle Eastern businessmen are tied-up purchasing Premier League football clubs, I ask you to please take matters into your hands. Use your imagination, guys – strangle yourselves or cover yourself in tinfoil and take a fork to a nearby plug socket, or something. Just put yourselves and us fans out of our collective misery.

So, in summary, you pack of repugnant, sputum-filled, invertebrate bástards; leave this club now and don’t you fúcking dare look back. You’ve consistently demonstrated less passion and desire than can commonly be found within the contents of a sloth’s scrótum, so frankly you can just all fúck off – don’t pass go, don’t collect your wages, don’t ever come back to this town again.

I look forward to you serving me at my local McDonald’s drive-thru in the near future.

Yours sincerely

A very disillusioned Mariner

The B-Ark / Nick Jackson?
« on: July 16, 2009, 06:09:11 AM »
I know his surname is Jackson, not sure about his first name though. Anyway, i walked down to the ground with his Mum last night, of course i had no idea who she was until she told me. She did say how much the lad was hoping to do enough in the friendlies to be taken on. When he came on last night i think he did ok, it was the first game and they can be a bit up and down. He's very young and might not get a regular slot in defence, he can though still play for the youths. Anyway, good luck to the lad, he's local and keen to play so i for one hope he gets his chance.  :)
