The B-Ark / Re: Have the wheels fallen off?
« on: November 07, 2010, 06:26:13 PM »
Second in the league having only played 5 out of 14 matches at home. With 9 away matches already played I think the wheels would have come off the Pilgrim Express some time ago if they were going to. 5 away wins and 4 away draws is championship form. Wheels all in tact as far as I can see, at the moment.

Good to see the reserves back to winning ways with a comfortable 7-0 win over Grimsby Borough. After last weeks blip at Swineshead, the Reserves put in a much more assured performance of the level we have come to expect and appreciate. Pity there weren't more spectators.

The B-Ark / A visit to the Institute
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:36:09 PM »
Decided to take 'Old Brownie' for another outing - this time to the Institute at Swineshead which turned out to be a bit of a madhouse for the reserves.

Have used Picasa this time but didn't find it as user friendley as Flicker. Use F11 to view full screen.

Neat little ground with impressive clubhouse for a village team.  Especially impressed by the hospitality boxes overlooking the subs bench and dug? outs!

Not one of our best performances - we seemed to lack a bit of desire, tempo and  not enough of a passing game. However, overall a pleasant afternoon and I'm sure we'll soon get back to winning ways again.

The B-Ark / Re: Three weeks without a fixture?

Wonder if Hyde would be as kind as to bring our home fixture forward. Due to play them on the Saturday before Christmas which traditionally turns out to be a bit lower gate then normal due to all the Christmas shopping, etc.

Thanks for that DC. The photos were taken with a telephoto but the wide angle effect is done via cropping, something I've done regularly with landscape shots over the years. I also have a graphics background so used to thinking outside the regular photo rectangle shapes.  Glad you liked them.

Thanks for the encouragement Shippy (and wez 33). Its always good to receive positive feedback when it comes to photos especially when trying a new area of photography. Shippy, the photos I've seen of yours on the Patter have been excellent and some outstanding. It was seeing some of your images posted on the Patter a bit back that inspired me to take my camera to York Street.

Will definitely give it another go in the near future. Practice makes perfect.

Announcer could also keep us updated with the first teams score.

Decided to watch the reserves yesterday and thought it would be a good opportunity to brush down 'The Brownie' and take some pix. Although, I have in the past, taken a very occasional photo at matches. I've found it too much of a distraction while trying to watch the match. So I thought this would be a good occasion to concentrate on the camera rather than the game - although the 4-3 result certainly kept the attention.

As a result I've finally opened a Flicker account, so for anyone interested in viewing some images from yesterdays cup match at York Street against Skegness, please click the link below.

Best viewed in full screen mode.

Sorry I can't tell you who the players are. Teamsheet or announcer would have been helpful on this account.

As it happens I enjoyed both the photography and the match and gained an even greater appreciation of Kens matchday photos week in and week out and the speeed in which they are uploaded to the Patter.

Great crowd. According to th Derby Telegraph it was 'Alfreton's biggest crowd for a league game for 28 years that saw a well-organised Boston team take one of their two chances to snatch victory'.
