Thank God for ASLEF!!! Without them, I would have seen this mess. The post match interview makes it clear Cox thinks the players are soft. So why recruit them? It isn't that long ago when the likes of Ellender and Elding took "first-ball supremacy" to a whole new level. We are in trouble already and I am worried. UTP

I've seen the interview with PC and it's obvious he knows he made a mess of things yesterday. "Hindsight is a wonderful thing" he said. In other words, I got it wrong. I'll be very interested to see the line-up for the Gloucester game. Anyway, yesterday is history, life will always kick you in the teeth given half a chance.
I was going to Gloucester next week until ASLEF announced a day of strike action. I'll have to settle for Twitter instead.

We are in a Catch 22 situation. If we stay part-time, the best we can really hope for is another crack at the play-offs. If we go full-time, the club will face significant extra financial pressures.
I think I'll leave that one to DN.
I will be very interested in Paul Cox's retained list. On the face of it, I think we're looking at major surgery, not cosmetic.
One plus point is full-time York and Gateshead will likely be replaced by part-time Buxton and Scarborough, also Guiseley going down should mean Kings Lynn laking their place.

Just a few words to wish all Pilgrims a safe and successful day tomorrow. Having progressed a LOT further than I thought possible, I am a lot more relaxed than I should be.
On a positive note, the bookies have United at a shorter price to win than the previous two play-off games.
They hate paying out.

Overall, a point today is OK. We are still in a play-off position. Monday evening's table could be very interesting. York play Fy£de and Chorley play Gateshead. 3 points against Gloucester is a must.
I'm not over-confident because I feel this season has not made me confident. However, if we have a chance of the play-offs, I will make the trek to Farsley.

I know a 3-1 loss today is bad news. But again a lot of the other results went our way. We are still 6th. Chorley are 5 points ahead with 3 games left, but their run-in is dodgy. The same applies to Kettering, York...etc...etc. My long distance telescope tells me we will need a draw at Farsley in the last fixture to make the play-offs. In which case, I will be there.

Honestly, I was dead chuffed with 0-0 at half-time! I thought if we could hang on for a point, that would be fantastic. Then we get a late winner! All the other results were near perfect as well.
Fy£de are next and I wonder if they will rest any players?

When I looked in the bathroom mirror this morning, I saw a large amount of egg on my face. Last week I was so fed up with our lack of finishing, I decided not to go to Ashton and save myself about £70.
Fast forward to yesterday and we're 3-o up inside 30 minutes, all 3 from open play! And before they had their first man sent off.
All the other results worked out nicely so we jumped from 10th to 6th. If we can get two draws from the Brackley and Fylde games and 10 points from the other 4 games, I think we'll make the play-offs.

The B-Ark / Blyth[H]

It seems apathy has taken over. I'm not surprised. After the York win I thought things were looking up.WRONG. We were lucky to get away with 2-1 at Darlington[ no comments passed on this forum by people who went]. Today, as usual this season, in open play we couldn't score. In 3 hours this season against Blyth, we have managed a comical own-goal and an injury time equalizer at home. I had planned to go to Curzon next Saturday[overall cost £70+], but unless a radical improvement at Chorley happens, I won't bother.

3 points away from home. Tasty. The next 7 games are 5 away and 2 at home . That will balance us up. 18 played at home, 18 away. We start at Alfreton on Tuesday. Can we get 3 points from Billy Heath? I dislike and admire him in equal portions.  One of the home games is Gateshead, which is bad news. I have pencilled in Curzon Ashton on April 9th for a day out. I posted a while ago we had a 50/50 chance of 6th or 7th place and I stand by that.

I have just watched the Paul Cox interview. I can GUARENTEE there will be a massive clear-out at the end of the season. He is a lousy actor. He does NOT rate this group of players. Of course he cannot come clean about this, DN would jump on him. I can only say, with some resignation, that next season will be better[World War 3 not withstanding].

Charley Sanders. According to the Letters Page of this week's NLP, Charley is still having disciplinary problems. He now plays for Bedford Town in the Southern Central Division One.  He has been sent off 3 times before the end of November. His latest recent transgression resulted in the match being abandoned and the police being involved. Even his own manger has labelled him a "liability". Despite all this, Bedford are top of their league!

I don't think anyone was surprised by the final scoreline last night. The stats are now P26 W11 D4 L11 GF40 GA40. That sums up the season so far. Average.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Abbott dump us to play for Grantham not so long ago?

Paul Cook has inherited a very average squad.

Disagree. When he gets Tshimanga fit they'll be absolutely fine.

My mistake. I officially became a Senior Citizen on Wednesday and I'm starting to mix people's names up. Paul Cook was the drummer with the Sex Pistols!

Interesting times. Paul Cook has inherited a very average squad. Fact. We were kicked out of 3 Cup competitions by lower league outfits. I suspect he has dismissed hopes of promotion this season, though he would never say so publicly. He will give everyone the "once-over" and decide who stays and who goes. I suspect a lot will be leaving. I hope he "bloods " some youngsters along the way.
