Such heartfelt  & warm tributes paid to Jim Smith, from so many across the football world. Sir Alex Ferguson saying Jim was "Legendary", he also added "talking to Jim was one of the few pleasures left in the modern game". The story Harry Rednapp told regarding when Jim was his Assistant Manager & their was a knock on his office door (it was Chris Kamara). He waited patiently & knocked & knocked thinking Harry & Jim were discussing tactics & selection. He eventually walked in & Harry was reading the Racing Post & Jim Smith was looking over his shoulder writing a bet out. Rest Easy Jim, true Gentleman.

Yes & thoroughly deserved! We couldn't get a home draw out the hat; so we go to a League 1 club & bring one back on pure merit, skill & endeavour. I listened on radio Manchester & they said throughout the 94 mins we we much the better team. You could hear our fans singing their hearts out until the final whistle. Well done everybody!

The League's ineptitude in dealing with problematic clubs cost us 3 points yesterday - not the Boston United XI. Unlucky lads, but you shouldn't have been required to play last night.

According to The Northern Echo newspaper; Spennymoor requested permission from the NL to play their first four home games of the season away from home on  their Agronomists advice. The NL allowed that; apart from the Boston United home Fixture on the 10 August. The National League would not allow that fixture to be played at York Street??

Why do you think they took that decision?

Possibly the NL thought 4 away games in a row for them was unfair; coupled with the fact a run of home games would favour us? The request for their first 4 games to be played away was made well in advance of the season starting. So why were we only informed on the 6th of August that our game there on the 10th was off. Their home game with Blyth had already been switched from the 6/8 to 10/9? It looks like the whole affair was handled appaulingly by the NL.
