we can't be unhappy with the performance i don't think

only blemish was briscoe 'switching off' for the goal and by the time he realised he hadn't tracked the runner it was too late

we've had 9 chances and taken none. had 5 on target, they've had all the luck, got some decent blocks in nut we were by far the better side, especially after the break

oh for a fit, prolific forward but we are where we are this season i guess

shows you what having a decent pitch to play on can do too- no wonder we're better away from home

good effort though

have seen him play right back. he's tidy in the role

sheffield based so guess buxton suits him and he'll want to be playing so good luck to the lad in football and with his new family

diesuwere isn't bad either - however with the  4 5 1 preferred i can't see him getting many starts. another decent addition to the squad. fair play to the money men in backing AM. these signings don't come cheap and with the injuries we've got and the wages going out to roberts maguire burgess smith pepe etc etc he must have deep pockets

no disrespect intended to the injured players here. sure they'd sooner be playing for their wages and injuries are just part of football. one thing we haven't had much of is good luck too and we had a bit yesterday so that's great to see too

no way both yesterday's opponents and gainsboro will pick up 9 points more than us in the run in so we're 99% safe and can look forward to next season barring a total disaster

well done also the the BUFC faithful who made the long journey yesterday. a credit to the club

non league paper gave MOM to briscoe who was steady but for me batch was our best player. they had a big youth up top which suited him just fine and he won everything

i've been saying for a while nw he should adopt a safety first approach when the ball's on the deck and if in any doubt- rather than trying to lay it back to ross or pass it to a team mate that he should just whack it into the stand

he did that several times yesterday and it takes all the doubt out of things- especially on a poor pitch which we saw yesterday, which we'll see on tuesday and which we have at york street

all in all though a decent shift. feel a bit for bishop, he runs his nuts off with limited service and needs a goal but not one of the lads can be faulted for effort so roll on tuesday

grantham have played too many games i reckon and will more than likely be overhauled but they've done really well

saw them the other tuesday and their ground is a really soulless affair

anyway, credit to our lot today.looked much better with briscoe and rollins out wide. batch was immense. best player on the pitch by miles but chapman also did well

penalty save came at an important time and they were v average but no worse than alty

just about safe now. can't see both worcester and gainsboro gaining 9 points on us

good effort to say we're missing robinson roberts maguire burgess smith marshall etc etc etc. fans were good too, a solid day out all round

lets all have a briscoe

i've seen him play for mansfield. strong lad, quick ish and dynamic from what i remember. we need a midfielder that makes things happen. too many of ours currently just go through the motions

expect him to start given injury to chapman. would like to see rollins start over simmons too

fingers crossed this fella can make a difference. currently out issue is in the 'goals for' department so let's hope for a positive attacking line up and a solid away win

welcome to boston louis

totally agree with tipps end pilgrim. step 2 is right for us at the minute

budget needed for step 1 isn't within reach

so let's stay up ans start again next season and have a go for play offs

good luck to the lads for the rest of the season

The B-Ark / life under the new manager
« on: March 14, 2017, 06:52:00 PM »
after 13 games under AM, just a reflection on his tenure

won 4 drawn 3 lost 6. scored 13, conceded 17

emphasis seems to have been on 'keeping it tight' rather than going for it

the issue to me seems to be in the goals scored area as with goals against, we've conceded 1 goal or less 9 times (2 clean sheets and 7 singles) but we've failed to score 6 times

we should have got something more from the games with darlington tamworth fcum halifax altrincham and possibly nuneaton if we'd finished better so i think we have a relatively solid defensive unit. aside from harrogate we've not been well beaten by anyone so i feel there are some good signs- especially with the horrendous injury list we've had and continue to have

let's get behind the manager and the lads for the rest of the season and see what next season brings eh?

young vinno was really good. for his size he can tackle and didn't shirk it once

nice technical player too. hopefully we can get some work done to make our pitch better ahead of alty to enable the more technical lads like vinno and hilly to get it down and play

10 games left now- nothing to lose really. lads like vince are the future. hope we stick with him as the side currently has a good number of young (ish) lads playing

other than vince, durrant, yeomans, thomas, gordon, joe fitz, robbo and bishop are all on the right side of 25 i think with the rest 25- 30 and only clarke over 30 which bodes well going forward

not sure what the future holds for gatter now. presumably he came in to get game time but yesterday wasn't in the 16. seems to have dropped down the pecking order and wouldn't be surprised to either see him go back to burton before his loan ends and move to an evostik club like spalding where he spent time earlier in the season. good luck to the lad whatever happens. always gives 100%

agree with indecision on balls over the top. that's an area where we look vulnerable. personally i'd prefer defenders to go 'safety first' and welly it into the stand! takes all the doubt out of the situation that way

keeper and defence were much better yesterday. i can remember 4 saves of note. 2 free kicks in the first half, a block with his legs after the break and the point blank save from garner's header late on

much as yesterday was good, we never really looked like scoring did we? in fact i can't recall a save from their keeper. bishop had a chance down the inside left channel second half and vince was in the other channel but neither got a shot away

all in all though a decent point and one which maybe we weren't expecting. we are looking at a run of games which we can win coming up so let's hope the improvement continues

just looking on halifax's forum and there's not a lot of love for their gaffer it seems. first time i've been there and it was a very impressive set up

good point. thoroughly deserved against a high flying big budget side. we've matched both halifax and chorley in recent weeks so signs are good

josh robbo was top man for me. young vince did very well too

i have never understood why gordon and thomas were dropped. both have to be in our best eleven don't  they? no surprise the team does better when they play

well done to all involved. makes the saturday night stella taste much better. on another note, thought the ref was good today for a change

me neither

i saw chapman against us at gainsborough on NYD and he was bang average. in my view he's been bang average for us since he came in. he will be on top wages too i suspect

hopefully we have yet to see the best of him so let's afford him the benefit of the doubt but i'm just judging him on what i've seen so far and he's not as good as fitzpatrick in my opinion

i do see some decent prospects in the squad though and we won't go down so hopefully better times are around the corner

agree re gatter. he's being messed around a bit in my view. he's a centre mid or centre half but not a right back. problem i see is we'll make a system to fit chapman into. to me, he's not even boston's best midfielder, never mind the league's! fitzpatrick and gatter with hilliard in front ticks all the boxes

The B-Ark / Re: Vs Nuneaton

non league paper ratings

durrant 7 gatter 4 yeomans 6 batchelor 5 robinson 5 chapman 6 simmons 5 hawley 6 bishop 5 clarke 5 rollins 5

hilliard 5 fitzpatrick 5 thomas 6

personally, i feel that we have two of the best full backs in the league in gordon and thomas. ok, both were poor v harrogate, but so were most of the team. gatter simply isn't a full back and yeomans, whilst promising, isn't half the player that gordon is. in my view this is poor team selection. as for chapman, i don't think he's worth his place. doesn't run around enough for me and we are carrying him. no way he'll be dropped though after the 'best midfielder in the league' comment though is there?

i think there are some good lads at the club and i also feel the future is very bright but not sure it's the right shape/ personnel at the minute. watching the highlights back, the first two goals came in channels where full backs should be 'tucking round' to cover the centre halves and the third is an error from gatts who had a clear 'away' call. this is the third time in the last month where defenders have failed to execute 'safety first' clearances and have tried to be too clever. none of these errors have been made by either gordon or thomas yet they're the ones axed. makes no sense to me

we definitely won't go down though so there's plenty to be optimistic about. keep the faith people

very frustrating

a slow start, we switched off for the first goal and didn't pick up the runner

second goal was a great finish

much better after the break. bishop made a difference and will surely start next week

a point would have been at least fair

officials very weak

final word about the pitch. AM said recently the club were aware of the problem and were doing something about it. once more today it was horrible. got worse as the game went on as it cut up. has to be the worst in the league. come on powers that be- give the lads a proper surface to play on as this one is holding us back

off for a pint
