The B-Ark / Farewell to York Street
« on: March 15, 2020, 05:46:26 PM »
It’s been mentioned in other posts and on other forums, but in an extremely unfortunate twist of fate, have we already seen our last ever Pilgrims competitive game at York Street?
I certainly hope not, but under the current situation, who says we haven’t?
Well, without going into the what may or may not happen, IF the game gets the go ahead on Tuesday, let’s get out there and give the old girl a real send-off.
Tuesday may or may not also prove to be the last ever etc etc, but in a “live every day like it’s your last”, for 90 minutes on Tuesday night, as the saying goes “let’s get it on”!

The B-Ark / Curzon at home

I’d like to summarise by paraphrasing the manager’s post match interview on Radio Lincs...
Sometimes you have to take one on the chin and almost appreciate the opposition and the game plan which nearly had them stealing all 3 points but for a late blaze over the bar.
Yep, the pitch was heavy, the injury list grows again, the ref was pants and we should have had 2 pens, but even so, we sit 5th and there’s a lot of positive to be taken from that.

Happy New Year...
I may be jumping the gun, but is Scott Garner about to return? He’s in the Main Stand this afternoon...

The B-Ark / Dan Millgate

I see there's a tweet from Dan saying he's on his way to The Posh. I have to say he will be missed. I was rather hoping his experience and expertise was going to be instrumental in setting the new pitch at the Quadrant. But I guess his appointment is testament to the quality of the York Street surface. Good luck to him and his "promotion" is deserved.

Bloody freezing but another 3 points and another clean sheet. Decent game, crap officials. Thought Alex Whittle was deservedly given the MOM.

Difficult to rate the first half, given we made so many changes and played an alien formation, but even a well shuffled pack got it together enough to show the extra quality needed to get through. Decent result in the end

With all 4 Conference National clubs heading south, there are no clubs coming into our league from a higher division, the only movers are sideways from the south. Does this potentially leave the door open for mid-tablers like ourselves to have a better chance of making the play-offs? After all, the teams who come from the south aren't necessarily higher up to the table than us, just further north than their counterparts.

or would you rather beat City and likely hand the title to the old rivals Liverpool?

CE named midfielders who "didn't try hard enough" on Saturday

midfielder John Welch has left Grimsby today "by mutual consent"

is there a link?

The B-Ark / Quote “not good enough”
« on: March 18, 2019, 09:45:11 PM »
So CE in his post match on Saturday says quite clearly we’re quote “not good  enough” for the playoffs.

I didn’t personally  like the way he named players publicly who he thought hadn’t made much effort . I think that should be left in the dressing room.

But, now to my point, or rather lack of them.

According to @bostonutdstats our home games versus teams above us is

P10 W0 D2 L8

I know the home form is well debated, but if CE needs to see what needs to be fixed for next season if we’re serious about playoff football, then surely turning even 3 of those 8 defeats would put us comfortably there.

To refer to my starting point, I requote Mr Elliot to himself,  “not good enough”

The B-Ark / Clickety-Click
« on: January 08, 2019, 08:49:42 PM »
The revolving door debate continues, and there's many recent comments and opinions been aired about the current season.

It got me thinking that Elliot's been in charge for 13 months, so it made me wonder exactly how many names in total have made the field under him.

So I got In touch with @bostonutdstats, and we think this is the answer...

In 17/18 Elliot used 32 different players in 26 competative games

In 18/19 Elliot has used 42 different players in 28 competative games

Only 8 played in both seasons Wllis, Smith, Rollins, Abbott, Thanoj, B Middleton, Qualter, Wafula

So, in total 66 different players have played an active part in 54 competative matches under Elliot.
(Plus Tyrell Waite was an unused sub twice last season for Elliot but never came on)

This must beat any other similar tenure by a mile, even my old mate Dennis 'Tinkerman' Greene!

No wonder they play like strangers some weeks.

18, an attacking midfielder on a months youth loan from Barnsley

(rather amusingly my spelling auto correct had his first name as "Tax Free". It's probably best not to go back to the "bad old days!")
