The B-Ark / Re: Craig Elliot
« on: November 13, 2017, 05:12:46 PM »
Looks like we had to pay for his services, as he was on a contract until 2019.
Apparently they came to an agreement.

That's something else DN said wouldn't happen because BUFC couldn't afford it.

Doesn't say financial agreement... we'll probably be playing them next pre-season!

Craig Wood, chairman of Evo-Stik League Premier club Shaw Lane AFC, has announced the departure of manager Craig Elliott.

Wood announced that his manager had decided to make the step up into the Vanarama National League North with Boston United.

Wood said: “Craig has this morning announced that he will be leaving the club with immediate effect to join Boston United as their first-team manager.

“Craig spoke to myself this morning to announce his decision and stated that he had not made the decision lightly, but felt that the opportunity to manage such a big club as Boston United does not come around too often. Craig is expected to take his backroom staff with him, although this has yet to be confirmed.

“Craig was appointed as manager of Shaw Lane AFC by myself in February 2014 and in that time has brought three promotions in four seasons as well as securing the Sheffield Senior Cup last season and took the club to the First Round proper of the Emirates FA Cup this season. Unfortunately, when a manager is as successful as Craig has been, then invariably it will attract attention from other clubs and, although Craig was under contract with Shaw Lane until 2019, an agreement has been reached between both clubs and I would like to thank Craig for the great work he has done in that time at our football club and I wish him well for the future.

Ok so why does Dennis come to watch, I don't get why he would want to, there is plenty of other clubs to watch in Lincolnshire with three in the football league.
How many of our ex managers come to watch us, not many I suppose.
He must be mad to watch us for entertainment value, or perhaps its pherapy.

Perhaps BUFC will let him in for free.
Trinity made him pay last Tuesday, and he has complained to the chairman

The B-Ark / Re: Full admission prices for cup game
« on: September 15, 2017, 08:14:25 PM »
The club haven't missed a trick... they have to agree with the away side what the prices are. They will want to make as much money as possible. Halving the price would not result in double the crowd.

Perhaps not
However the potential to attract new people cannot be underestimated. Half price for adults and free for kids could bring in a family of four for the price of one committed fan. Four drinks, four hot dogs, couple of quid on the raffle, a visit to club shop and a programme could make up some of the difference (without having to share proceeds) and maybe they will return for further games

We are going to be in a relegation battle me thinks. The time for talking is over, big game on Saturday for AM.

We knew we would be in a relegation battle before pre season. Not sure why BUFC fans think their team should be play-off material.
This league, probably more than any other, is divided by the haves, and the have nots.
Seven teams are full time, and six or seven of the others are paying full time wages to some of their players. Kidderminster have paid £75k for a player (and wages to match) and Salf*rd offered £200k for a striker - loose change to the ex Manure players, but more than our entire annual budget.
We are in a league of about six teams (NFU, Leamington, Telford, Curzon, and I originally predicted BPA, but now it's FCUM) trying to stay in the division - BUFC could get drawn into this, but I expect them to be in the next group of lower mid table anonymity
The division above is not the promised land, but seemingly the path to potential obscurity - of which some teams are struggling to recover

Harrogate have at least given Simon Weaver the benefit of the doubt, yes his dad pumps she'd loads of money into the club and most would say Simon's position is relatively safe.
But he still has to come up with goods and so far he is doing it, yes with a bigger budget than most clubs in this league but still he has had the backing of the club and most of the fans.
This season we will be a mid table finish for us, but this is a long term project and about building for the next two season's.
Let's all be honest here, if we do not have the money to compete at the top of the league in conference North, how the hell do you think we are going to be able to compete in the National League, I am sorry but until the new stadium is built and we are not spending 70k + on rent each year we will be a mid table club.
This can change before that if we get an investor who can chuck money at us, a good FA CUP run to match Lincoln's or a bit of luck with players over performing like under Greens tenure.
And for facts and figures % bla how bla, they can be minupulated and can be taken with a pinch of salt, so if a team draw's on regular basis, does that mean they are poor in attack or good in defence, for instance, so if they draw 0-0 does that mean they a poor attacking team but a good defensive unit, but if they draw 4-4 does that mean they are a good in attack and poor in defence, perhaps in 0-0 draw the opposition keeper had a an awesome game and saved 30 goal bound shots, or the ref ruled out stone wall penalties and disallowed goals sent players off etc.
And the same can applies for a 4-4 draw or the opposite, football is a human game with people making decisions and it is definitely not controlled by a computer or fancy figures on a graph.
See I do understand the concept of football, not from statistics but from someone who has actually played the game and has the t shirt to prove it.

Do you think the new stadium will be free?
£72k pa rent currently is extortionate but how much will BUFC pay for new ground?
David Newton and Chestnut homes are not charities, and someone will have to cover the c£5 million costs somewhere along the line

Exciting couple of days ahead ,    tomorrow the FA Cup draw .
Gary Frost Boston T manager is hoping to get drawn v Pilgrims ,   Many of us go along with Garys dream but  it does raise complications .
Who if it's a Town v Pilgrims tie  will Miele and his granddad  support ?

Tuesday night we have NFU visiting Jakemans Stadium ,  NFU as we all know will have the BBC RADIO LINCOLNSHIRE legendry guest Steve Housham in charge .
Adam will have to get his tactics right for this one as Steve will have seen video of our now superb playing surface which will give his side a great advantage with their passing game !!!

Mentioning Radio Lincs , any truth that the BBC are paying a special tribute to what was Lincolnshire Sport .  Rumour has it that on Saturday night Michael Hortin will be conducting the BBC symphony rendition of  HOPE AND GLORY .

NFU will almost certainly have the lowest budget in our league, they did ok against us but lacked a finish - £50 a week strikers
Their football was ok - no Denton to aim for nowadays

Trinity want him, apparently he lives in the same village as Frecklington, and they know each other well, a plan probably hatched between them.
If I was Adam I would not cancel his contract, and make Trinity pay for him, a strong message needs to be sent out to the rest of the squad,if you don't play for us you don't play anywhere.

If Trinity wanted to sign him, they should have done so in the summer. Think Frecks has spent his budget, so can't see any fee being paid.
Think also that our manager is on as thin ice as yours, and probably neither will last  the season

Who gives a toss what Salford do, no other club in this league respects them, they are nothing with a bunch of money grabbing players including pidge, I can't wait for our Smithy to smash him.
This club showed pidge respect, support and loyalty, he and only he has decided to go money chasing.
So he is now a hobby club and tv show player sucking up to the Man Utd has beens, I shall not clap him when he returns to York Street, and don't give me all that about loyalty to players  rubbish, he stated that, I love this club, I would come back and play here again, and the first offer he gets too play for the little Man Utd and a big fat wedge of cash, he soon forgets all of his fans at Boston.

Players usually follow the (big) money.
If S*lford were paying similar wages to Boston then he would probably have made himself available to your manager, rather than become some bit part in a sporting version of the Truman show.
S*lford and their owners have quickly become the most despised club in (non league) football. The brackets will disappear pretty quickly, as will the owners as they fade into obscurity.
Think the BBC need to realise that most football fans are not interested in some millionaires vanity project

Remember Cecil Nyoni from bout 6 seasons ago? He's joined Alfreton, their 13th new signing.

Played for Trinity back end of last season. Offered non contract terms for this season, but wanted more cash  than the manager was offering

On paper it looks like we are getting a competitive team together, but i will state 'on paper'.  Lets hope we gel quickly and hit the ground running come that first game of the season. A top six finish and a good cup run would be nice. We can but hope and believe. UTP

I'm think sixth place will be well within our grasp leftback .  My predictions for the forthcoming season ...

Salford win the league but may have to change managers mid-season to achieve it .

York City with Gary Mills in charge and potential league top scorer Jon Parkin plus £250k parachute payment should secure a play-off spot .

Other full time teams will struggle to make the play-offs .
Harrogate will not sack there manager mid-season , with Weaver in charge even f/t they will struggle to make p/o spot
Nunny  will be on the verge .
Kiddy  will be to 2017/18 season what BUFC was to 16/17 season , a team ravaged by having best players snatched away by bigger teams .

Boston , reorganised with a midlands training base  making recruitment easier ,  plus an extra night training a week being a big asset .
Appears we can also compete with f/t Kiddy on wages,   and fees paid for 3 players

So York , Stockport and Boston for play-off places ,   joined by 3 of the following ...
 Darlington
 Chorley
 Blythe
 Alfreton
 Nuneaton
 Harrogate .

Bottom 6  .

NFU
Gainsboro
Curzon
Southport
Telford
BPA.

Admire your optimism GHM, but can't see BUFC in top half - even after paying for three players so far (unless you sign some really good players in next month)
My predictions -
Agree with Salf*rd, York and  Stockport. Chorley and Darlo were good last season and there are lots of teams with mid table potential. Harrogate will flatter to deceive, Can't see Alfreton bothering the play offs, Blyth and Spennymoor are unknown quantities
Think the teams with the lowest budgets will again fill the bottom six (us included) with Leamington, Curzon and NFU also vulnerable.
One established team will have a spectacular fall (FCUM?)

It all starts soon

To be fair,I have always thought that the conference North and south should be split into 3 league s North, Midlands and south.

Well it used to be NPL, SPL and Isthmian as feeders into the Conference...

All skewed by Northern league not joining pyramid - two feeders from south, only one from North.
CN or (National North) is the Northernmost 22 teams at this step. With so many teams from South, it leaves teams like Brackley (and Boston) at a geographical disadvantage

Yes I agree youngchubby could be him indeed either that or his agent 😘

Or a Gainsborough fan taking the p*ss out of us .
he's a Boston lad, sure enough. I reckon I worked out who he is after a Facebook fall-out with opposition fans earlier in the year. The style of posts and terminology are identical on Facebook and on here. It's not right to say who I think YC69 is publicly, but if I'm right, he's just a very pro AM fan who genuinely wants Boston success, and thinks most of us are unfair to the manager, Chestnuts and players. And, despite the cloak and dagger, he ain't the manager, chairman, his agent, nor the groundsman. I might not share many of YC69's views, but to give him his dues, at least he cares with massive enthusiasm.

My only doubt on the above TTT is in a previous post chubby wished Steelihat and Trinity a better season ,  never known a Patter person to commit such a sin .   I will not be doing so after they took money off us for a goalie who. could not hold down a place in a relegation threatened side  :)

😂
To be fair GHM, most of us thought he was the better of the two keepers we finished with -perhaps a little small in this league with lots of high ball played into the box. Our manager would have kept him - and we still haven't signed a keeper....

Can't see it being a Trinity fan GHM, don't think any would be continuously praising your manager

Positive s
New ground will start to be built this year
More focus put on to the youth teams that actually produce players.
A manager who is trying to ready this club for professional football
No price increases on admissions or season tickets.
A squad that looks like it can bully other teams rather than be bullied.
A chairman that is still putting money in and trying to move us forward without plunging the club into a massive amount of debt.
Fans that care about the club and don't just turn up so they can be part of a reality tv show.
The club is not changing its home strip just to extort more money out of its fans
We still have a club where many fan's don't due to clubs going bust.
And finally, the Bovril is great and not watered down.
See you all in pre season take care

Are you The managers spin doctor?

In order
1 Will the new ground make BUFC a better team?
2 Youth set up has mostly been abandoned - losing touch with local kids?
3 Ready the club for professional football?  How? Evidence?
4 Clubs are still struggling to attract fans in austere times. Not unique
5 QED
6 Are debts increasing?
7 Fans that comment are usually the ones that care - especially the moaners
8 The away kit has been changed (to extort money out of fans?)
9 Long may non league clubs continue
10 Bovril...erm

Judge the manager and team after they have played a few matches
