The B-Ark / Re: FUNNY - Was this tackle really a red card offence?????

By the letter of the law, yes. As it was an act of violence by a player during a game. Common sense would say that it wasn't however.

Well the commentators here in the US were just hating on him the whole game. One commentator said 3 times that Boston managed by him was one of the most unpleasant places to go, because of him.

Well here in the US, Boston United just got a mention! Second time that I've seen, 1st was when Tommy Taylor managed Grenada against the US.

'I'd been to Boston United when Steve Evans was in charge, and I can say he is a nasty piece of work'... From the commentators here haha

but what does everyone think of Butcher leaving ? - does it mean we'll get in another 2nd choice keeper or will we used the funds to bring in another player in defence/midfield ? as i think we're coverd up top with SWD Boyes, Hunter, Newsh & DD

It might prove difficult to attract a 2nd choice keeper, certainly on the evidence of how Butch has been treated. He's been trailed up and across the country, taken part in pre-match warm-ups - only to be persistently omitted from the subs' bench. There may be keepers out there who are not interested in playing and only want to pick up their pay cheque every week, but I doubt we'll be able to get a keeper of any calibre who will be prepared to stand for the same treatment.

For what it's worth, the issue of not having a keeper on the bench is something that I can't agree with Scott & Hurst on. It is such a very specialised position and as the last line of defence always runs the risk of picking up injuries or red cards. Just ask the Worcester keeper. Worcester had a keeper on the bench that afternoon. But if they'd had to put an outfield player in goal for the final few minutes, would they still have kept a clean sheet and won the game?

I'd say this is exactly what we have a reserve squad for. Bring one of those guys with the 1st team, at least let them experience 1st team game atmosphere etc, and even if they don't sit on the bench they'll still be around the 1st team, and can fill in for a game or two if Haystead is injured/suspended - if Haystead is out for a prolonged period of time then we'd need to bring in someone else, but I'd rather use the Butcher money on an outfield player tbh.

The B-Ark / Shane Clarke to the MLS?
« on: February 12, 2011, 06:25:45 PM »
Scotty Dalton and Craig Singleton have both tweeted that he is going on trial to an unnamed MLS team.

Having watched both Boston and the MLS, it seems like they are miles apart in terms of quality - with Teemu Tanio - former Spurs player on trail at the same time, surely an MLS manager wouldn't take a chance on Clarke? Especially with severe restrictions on over 21 and international players?

Thoughts?

Well forget that.

They should set up a burger van outside the ground, charge £7 a burger and make a killing. He did say that you'd be allowed to bring it in.
