Nobody knows the budget of every club in this league so it's only guessing. However, with us generally bringing in young unproven players it suggests we don't have a big budget. When Yates when to Gainsborough last year to double his money it showed that their budget is likely to be much higher than ours. If we had also spent big last year like it appeared Gainsborough did and then still not get promoted like they didn't then we would have just made a much bigger loss last season. It seems to come down to the fact that we really can't afford to spend any more on wages with the financial position the club is in. Go to say I'm fairly impressed with the way Jason Lee appears to be making the best of the situation not moaning like many managers do and bringing in young, hungry players.

Spalding only get about 50 fans at home matches, they're becoming the Gainsborough of the UCL. The big name players they are signing must be commanding high wages. Like Gainsborough it's unsustainable.

Too true about the TV money, but even without that we should be better off. Although having a full time team in BSP would mean the wage bill would be unaffordable, however surely keeping a part time team in BSP we would be better off than a part time team in BSN?

I do find the 'we cannot afford promotion' argument an interesting one. Should gain promotion admission prices would likely go up from £12 to £14 for standing. Average attendances would likely go from 1200 at present to between 1600 and 1800 with, this increase coming from both home and away fans with the likes of Lincoln, Grimsby, Cambridge, Mansfield and Luton all bringing over 1000. Plus the BSP have a TV deal where all clubs will be getting a share. If we get promoted I can see revenue increasing by up to 40%. If we stay a part time club and only increase the playing budget by 25% we should be able to be competitive whilst being a lot better off financially.

Good result for BUFC, considering there was only a couple of months left on the managers contracts £10k isn't bad. We were always going to win this case though. When Alex McLeish did the same thing it was settled out of court and I'm sure Villa could afford better lawyers than Grimsby and wouldn't have paid out to Birmingham City if they didn't have to. £10k towards the playing budget for the rest of season would easy pay the wages of a couple of top players at this level and really help the playoff push.
