The B-Ark / Reserves win 4-1 v Cleethorpes Town 2nds
« on: March 22, 2014, 06:16:12 PM »
Four first half goals from Lee Orrey (2), Liam Ogden and a long range effort from Aaron Eyett were enough to win the game - although Cleethorpes could count themselves a bit unlucky not to get more than their solitary goal in the 2nd half with Andy Hewitt having to make a number of brilliant saves after the opposition had broken through our defence. The game was a good advert, for once, for the much maligned Lincolnshire League! One more game to go for the Reserves, although it is still likely that the farcical League Committee will be making more alterations to the points situation prior to the end of the Season.   :bunny

The B-Ark / Boston United Reserves - time for a change of League?
« on: March 20, 2014, 04:13:58 PM »
It may be time to change Leagues? Currently, the Lincolnshire League is in a poor state with teams resigning left, right and centre and with a slow moving Committee who have a reputation of failing to act in serious matters, especially those of a disciplinary nature, when required to do so.
Yes, we can stay in this League next season but may be we should consider two Step 7 League alternatives?
The Peterborough & District League is just round the corner and will involve no more travelling than at present. If the Reserves are allowed to start in the top Division, they would not be out of place in the slightest. The only downfall with this League is that only a Referee is provided for games - clubs need to provide Club Linesmen on the day.
The Anglian Combination is another and better possibility but will involve a lot more travelling into Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and an increase in funding. Again, the Reserves would not be out of place if allowed to start in the top Division. The League provides Referees and Linesmen in the top Division and also in its second tier.
Food for thought?

The B-Ark / Reserves v Skegness Town today
« on: March 08, 2014, 06:30:36 PM »
Match ended as an entertaining 2-2 draw with title chasing Skegness Town. Good to see Jordan Nuttell back in BUFC colours and getting the first goal in the game. The Lincs League is in such a mess at the moment that nobody really knows how many points they have. The Lincs League Committee have been placing certain issues on the backburner, e.g. the Grimsby Borough Reserves resignation and the circumstances of the Skegness Town v Gainsborough Town abandonment incident, until they meet later this month which has been no help to the majority of League Clubs. However, today's draw may have helped Skegness Town, rather than ourselves, take a step nearer to the title when looking at the number of games the Lillywhites (may!) have in hand.

The B-Ark / Reserves
« on: March 02, 2014, 06:19:45 PM »
I see the Reserves unfortunately lost 2-0 to Cleethorpes Town Reserves in the Semi-Final of the Lincolnshire League Cup yesterday. I understand that the League won't be making any adjustments to the League Table regarding Grimsby Borough Reserves' resignation and any future action regarding Gainsborough Town until later this month. In the meantime, we will all have to hang about in limbo. However, I think it is a very strong possibility that the League will just finish with only 12 teams from the 15 it began the season with.

The B-Ark / Lincolnshire League - yet another team resigns
« on: February 22, 2014, 10:55:31 AM »
Another team has resigned from the Lincolnshire League - Grimsby Borough Reserves. More adjustments to the League table are now required and the League is now down to just 13 Clubs! Additionally, the fate of Gainsborough Town's membership surely hangs in the balance pending a Lincolnshire FA enquiry into the circumstances and subsequent events surrounding, and immediately following, the Abandonment of their match away to Skegness Town. I may be wrong but The Lincolnshire League appear to have taken no action in this matter yet and have actually allowed Gainsborough Town's scheduled home match today to go ahead - the reverse fixture against Skegness Town!! It's a funny (and yet sad) game.

RIP Geoff Farrar, Chairman of Skegness United FC.

Now in public domain. I am sure there will be local interest in the eventual outcome of Lincolnshire FA's decision in this matter!

The B-Ark / Reserves win again - but bad injury to Keiron Elliott
« on: January 11, 2014, 05:23:33 PM »
The Reserves recorded another win today this time against CGM Humbertherm with goals from Price and Orrey (2). Sad to see young Elliott in such agony - looked like a rib injury (?) - but hopefully he will be back before the end of the season. Heroes of the day were the Ambulance Crew who arrived in about 5 minutes and who attended to Keiron for about 15 minutes on the pitch before taking him to hospital. The Villain of the day? The totally incompetent Referee Mr J Bedford. BOTH Clubs MUST write a strong report to the Lincs League about his conduct today which was inept and embarrassing to say the least. :bunny

The B-Ark / Boston United Reserves Smash Lincoln United Reserves 6-0 !!
« on: December 21, 2013, 05:19:30 PM »
Well done to our second string! Great result and what a game! End to end stuff (sometimes suicidal defending) with plenty of goals and excitement. Not sure how Lincoln didn't manage a consolation goal as they weren't the worst team to visit us this season. Their well-built and over-vocal manager didn't seem too pleased with the situation though and deservedly received his marching orders from Referee Mowatt for non-stop verbal abuse of the official - he can have no recourse for appeal! Vinno's team are doing the business!!!!  :bunny

The B-Ark / Big game for Reserves v Lincoln Utd Res tomorrow 2.00pm
« on: December 20, 2013, 07:08:40 PM »
Billed as a "Top of the Table" clash - although the Lincs League Committee have still to revise the table following at least one withdrawal over the last fortnight which will affect current standings. Nevertheless, the current top two teams face each other at The Jakemans tomorrow at 2.00pm. Only £2 entrances fee. Guaranteed a good battle controlled by a dodgy referee! Should be fun! The more the merrier!

The B-Ark / Reserves progress in the Lincolnshire League Cup
« on: December 07, 2013, 04:44:41 PM »
Well done to the Reserves who beat Gainsborough Town today 2-0 in the Cup. Although not at their best, the Pilgrim's second string secured the win with 2 goals in the last 10 minutes after missing a penalty. What can I say about Gainsborough? They turned up late with just 9 men - Referee Wheeler very generously allowing the game itself to start 10 mins late - with 2 others turning up during the first half and no subs whatsoever. Their young vocal manager did not help Gainsborough's cause, spending most of the time texting on his mobile phone and the remaining time verbally abusing the officials. In the end thankfully  the right team went through. Sadly, the Lincolnshire League may have a number of withdrawals prior to the season end. I have heard rumours that Grantham Athletic (player unavailability) could be leaving the Lincolnshire League shortly. In addition, it looks that CGB Humbertherm are also struggling to raise a team at the moment due to player availability problems and Grimsby Borough Reserves facilities have been deemed as not currently meeting League requirements. I hope that this is not the case, but I see that the League "postponed" Grantham's and Humbertherm's schedule fixtures for today. If any of these clubs do withdraw, I expect that the League will be forced to do necessary adjustments of points from which BUFC Reserves are unlikely to benefit!

The B-Ark / Lincolnshire League XI progress further in FA Inter-League Cup
« on: November 30, 2013, 06:14:59 PM »
Great result for the County League team beating Birmingham Amateur League XI 2-1 away with goals from ex-Pilgrim Tony Edwards and Skegness Utd's Ryan O'Loughlin. On to Round 3 proper! Well done lads! Not sure how many of BUFC Reserves were playing.

The B-Ark / Reserves beat Horncastle Town 2-0
« on: November 02, 2013, 06:52:27 PM »
Great result for the second string! A 2-0 win at The Wong with goals either half from Orrey and Thompson respectively, the latter following up his own penalty miss. Very windy!!! Good solid performance from Vinno's Boys shutting out the home side's experienced strikers Bent and Edwards. Andy Hewitt had a great game - a call up to the first team squad in light of today's events at Brackley?  :bunny

The B-Ark / Reserves beat League Leaders
« on: October 27, 2013, 05:22:17 PM »
Our young (ish!) Reserves beat Lincs League Leaders Gainsborough Town 2-0 yesterday - perhaps this was a better achievement than the first team yesterday? Hopefully there will be some mention of this brilliant result on the Official Site tomorrow. Reserves now up to 4th place. Well done Vinno and his team!  :bunny

The most inept Refereeing performance I have ever seen (well for 10 years at least!). Ruston were deserved winners but the Ref was the main talking point. How many fouls did he miss? A total joke of an official and the ending of the game was most bizarre when, instead of punishing a bad foul and retaliation, decided to shirk his responsibilities and blow the final whistle early - to the amazement of players, managers and spectators. Weird! Boston never really looked like scoring and injuries picked up by Dongo and Delahoy will now be a concern. Good performance by substitute Joby Gowshall and a number of great saves by Andy Hewitt are the only positives I can think of!  :bunny
