The B-Ark / Youth Team
« on: April 05, 2017, 11:24:54 PM »
Another win, this time 4-0 away to Rushden & Diamonds means that only 1 point is now required from the last 2 games to secure the League title for the best set of lads currently wearing BUFC shirts. Well done again to Bunny and team. Come on folks, let's make sure that the Board recognise the Youth Team's achievements this season when the trophies are handed out after the final first team home game of the year!

The B-Ark / Youth team beat closest rivals!
« on: March 29, 2017, 08:07:44 PM »
A great result for the only shining light at the club at the moment (apart from the Salford City win!) - a 3-0 win against Basford United. Barring slip ups on a first team-esque scale, Bunny and the lads should now win their National League U19 Alliance Division and round off a great season for the team. A good attendance at Tattershall Road this afternoon and it was good to see JB and Craig there too. Well done lads! My choice of club player of the year is definitely going to one of the Youth squad this season!

The B-Ark / Nationwide Referees strike - 4th/5th March
« on: January 18, 2017, 07:47:36 PM »
According to today's Telegraph it appears that there is a call for a Nationwide Referees Strike scheduled for the weekend of 4th/5th March. Not sure how much this affects professional and semi-professional football but is bound to affect the amateur leagues on those two days. I see we are scheduled, at present, to play AFC Halifax Town that Saturday but I am sure that the strike won't be universally supported and there is little danger that this game will be postponed. The strike is about the increasing assaults on officials - apparently 1 in 5 have been attacked which is totally unacceptable - and the failure of the "Respect" campaign. I can see support for the strike affecting, but not totally interrupting, the Lincolnshire, Boston and Peterborough Leagues and the Lincoln & District Sunday League that weekend but not much else. I could be wrong though! I know that the lack of new referees means that within the next 2 seasons that most Step 7 or equivalent matches will only have one official appointed with the support of 2 club linesman - this is already adopted by the Peterborough & District League.

The B-Ark / Another Youth Team win!
« on: December 01, 2016, 08:26:20 AM »
I see the Youth Team won 5-1 away at Peterborough United yesterday. What a brilliant result which now pushes the Pilgrims up to 4th in their National League U19 Alliance Division with 3 wins out of 4 games. Coupled with the great FA Youth Cup run and that they are progressing in their League Cup, what a great season the Youth side are having compared to the miserable one the first team are having. I am sure the first team will turn things around in the New Year but perhaps not outshine the achievements of their younger colleagues this season! Well done to Bunny and his team!

The B-Ark / Another Youth team win!
« on: November 18, 2016, 07:46:06 PM »
A good win for Bunny and the boys beating Chasetown Youth team 2-1 this afternoon at York Street in the National League U-19 Alliance Cup. A hard fought game with both keepers in the thick of it. Another good cup run beckons this season? I hope so!

The B-Ark / BUFC march on in FA Youth Cup

3-1 win against Loughborough and we progress to the next round where hopefully we can get a home draw against a League club! Entertaining game, good size crowd - but on the downside no tea bar open though which did disappoint some of the away fans who had travelled at least 2 hours to get to the match!

The B-Ark / Good win for Youth Team marred by Drummond injury
« on: September 28, 2016, 06:30:05 PM »
The Youth team picked up their first 3 points of the season this afternoon in a 2-0 win of Football CV Reds. This was a close encounter but the Pilgrims' defence played brilliantly as a unit and in the end were well on top despite playing the last 12 minutes with only 10 men following what appeared to be a bad leg injury to Oli Drummond who had to be stretchered off after twisting and falling to the ground unchallenged. Get well soon, Oli !

The B-Ark / Frustration as Youth team draw with Sudbury Reds (27.1.16)
« on: January 27, 2016, 05:06:10 PM »
Honours finished even in today's encounter which was marred by injuries to several players including Kemal Yenibertiz whilst scoring Boston's only goal early on, the Sudbury keeper in the same incident - both facial cuts - and new first team squad member Kofi Ross (leg) in the second half. It was a match of limited chances although Boston thought they had regained the lead mid way through the second half only to be ruled out by the linesman's flag! From then on the game could have gone either way. Once again, a reasonable turn out for a weekday mid-afternoon match and thanks once more to our friends at Tattershall Road for hosting the game, especially the lady who runs the tea bar!

The B-Ark / Cup agony for Youth team
« on: January 20, 2016, 10:38:48 PM »
Gutted that the Youth team went out of the Youth Alliance Cup today at the quarter final stage but The Pilgrim's youngsters can hold their head up high after such a good run in the competition. There was not a lot to separate the teams in a game of limited chances but Guiseley's first half goal from a corner proved to be enough to win it for the Yorkshire side 1-0. Big thank you for all that turned up this afternoon and for our friends at Boston Town for hosting the Youth team games this season.

The B-Ark / Another great win for the Youth Team
« on: December 02, 2015, 06:18:32 PM »
Well done to Bunny and the lads for a excellent 4-0 win today at Tattershall Road v Bishop's Stortford Academy as a follow up to their 3-0 win on Monday. The team played as unit throughout with Kemal and 'Tino leading the line well. Also thought the Referee had a good game. Well worth popping down to Town's DWB Stadium for future Youth Team games if you get the chance!

The B-Ark / Youth team lose 4-0 this afternoon
« on: November 25, 2015, 06:16:03 PM »
The Youth team, despite putting up a fighting performance, lost to a competent Brentwood Town side who displayed good teamwork and deservedly won this match, albeit the 4-0 scoreline was a little harsh on the home side. A good workout, though, for Bunny's lads at a cold Tattershall Road today! Brrrrrrrrrr!

The B-Ark / Brilliant win for Youth Team today
« on: November 11, 2015, 05:49:06 PM »
Well done to Bunny and the lads who saw off an older and physical (well, their talented but hotheaded #9 was certainly that!) Solihull Moors side in the first round of the Youth Alliance League Cup. The game had it all - 3 goals, a massive brawl resulting in 2 red cards, a number of physical challenges, a smouldering Referees' Changing Room due, I think, to a heater issue and a low flying air "display" by the RAF! The Pilgrims held their own throughout and were deserved winners although the Solihull bench did their #9 no favours by not substituting him prior to the 80th minute brawl as he had been most fortunate not to be dismissed for an earlier assault and his behaviour in the game was always going to result in him heading for an early bath and a lengthy suspension. Great entertainment and onwards to the next round!

The B-Ark / Great win for Youth Team 4.11.15
« on: November 05, 2015, 09:25:50 AM »
Just seen the result on the FA Website from yesterday - Boston United 4 Braintree Town 0. Fantastic scoreline against a side which has had some impressive results this year. Have to admit that I didn't travel to this game as was sure it would have been called off like the later U-21 match. Fair play to Boston Town FC for hosting the game despite, I would imagine, the probability that the pitch would be churned up in the persistent rain. Well done to Bunny and the lads!

A hat-trick by Harry Limb finally put paid to a lively Anstey Nomads as the Pilgrims won 4-2 after trailing 2-1 at Half-Time. The other Boston goal was a Penalty converted by Tinashe Chavundura. A fast flowing game with plenty of excitement and a reasonable crowd - shame the Club had no "Tannoy" announcements or Tea Bar open as would have made a couple of quid out of it. However, it is still well done Boston and on to the 2nd Qualifying Round with a home tie against Leicester Road (from Hinckley) or Lincoln City.

The B-Ark / Louth Town FC
« on: August 20, 2015, 07:38:31 AM »
Spare a thought for the White Wolves who appear to have been dissolved. Whilst we knew their first team had withdrawn from the Northern Counties East League, they had hoped to play purely in the Lincolnshire League for the 2015/16 season but have now withdrawn from this too. ELDC have granted permission for 98 houses to be built on their ground at Park Avenue, Louth. They were the only club in East Lindsey playing within the footballing pyramid last year. The Lincolnshire League will continue to struggle with just 12 teams again this season. For every club that has money thrown at it economics dictates another one goes under. Louth Town RIP.
