The B-Ark / Reece Thompson

For anyone wondering where he'd vanished to or why we've not been in for him this season, the reason has finally been released... and it's absolutely horrifying.

The B-Ark / Chorley (H)

Conditions sound awful. 1-0 down but by all accounts a decent(ish) performance so far. Would have been 2-0 but for a penalty save from that bang-average keeper of ours that we shouldn't have signed for next season...

And Chorley down to ten men....

The B-Ark / Southport (a)
« on: March 08, 2019, 09:37:52 AM »
Who else is bothering with this? For my sins I am, first time travelling to Southport and always nice to get a new game under the belt, and I've not made a game for some weeks now. Hoping to see a continuation of the supposedly decent form we showed against Stockport on Tuesday night translate into actual points. I think we're highly unlikely to make the playoffs as it is, but anything less than a win tomorrow and I think that'll be definitely season over.

I'm sure I read that it's best to buy tickets in advance as Southport have barcode scanners but as their website is currently knackered that option is currently unavailable.

The B-Ark / New stadium progress
« on: February 12, 2019, 01:30:07 PM »
Took a little stroll down Tytton Lane to the new stadium from my parents' house on Saturday to see how things are getting on (but mainly to test out how long it'll take to get there when it's finished).

It's possible to get a decent view of the site from the new footpath that has been built between the A16 and the retail units, although this is a short dead-end that is well fenced off before you rejoin the access road into the site.

I wasn't expecting to see much and to be fair I wasn't disappointed in that regard: the groundworks appear to have been completed for the west (main) stand but I couldn't see any of the tell-tale yellow markings for any of the remaining three stands. To the left as you look at the stadium is the site office, with the groundworks for the stand behind that. The drainage work that had been taking place last year is evident as newly-constructed manhole covers jut out from the ground in a few places.

The basic layout of the new place is fairly easy to work out - the land has been cleared where the stands will sit but the future pitch has been left overgrown with weeds, so it's very easy to make out. The only substantial progress has been with one of the retail units which lies immediately adjacent to the stadium site and is substantially complete but still looks like it needs fitting out.

And that's it. Nothing visible above the surface and no construction machinery or materials in place to suggest anything of that nature will be appearing imminently. It was still quite interesting to have a poke around though. Here's hoping the good news about funding sees this project pick up some pace in the weeks ahead. Some boring pics posted on Twitter @TrailOfDebt.

Margetts to Trinity - three month loan.

No great surprise.

The B-Ark / Tomorrow
« on: January 12, 2018, 04:13:09 PM »
If anyone was thinking of hopping on the train tomorrow to see another game - like Forest v Villa - keep an eye on EMT's website. Nottingham station's almost certainly going to remain closed after this morning's fire. There aren't any trains running between Skeg-Nottingham at all today, and there aren't even any bus replacements on. No guarantee of this being arranged for tomorrow either, seems they're scrambling for buses to connect Lincoln and Derby etc.

In many ways, it's a good job we don't have a home game tomorrow as many exiles and away fans use Nottingham as a hub to get on the Skeg train.

The B-Ark / Tonight's game / weather

How's it looking over in Boston? It's been raining for hours over here in Nottingham - and looking at the forecast, there's lots more to come. Please tell me we're not in pitch inspection territory in August!

The B-Ark / Wrexham - Boston, 2007
« on: May 05, 2017, 06:15:39 PM »
Today marks ten years since we dropped out of the Football League at Wrexham, so I wrote this for the Boston Standard about it...

http://www.bostonstandard.co.uk/sport/football/wrexham-10-years-on-a-decade-after-dropping-out-of-the-football-league-boston-united-fans-paul-ellender-and-chris-cook-reflect-on-that-tearful-farewell-1-7946050

Anyone else go along to the match? It really is amazing how fans talk of the day so fondly, but like many I remember enjoying the trip despite what happened on the pitch. I remember being convinced at the time that I was witnessing the club's last ever game, such was the mess behind the scenes.

Sadly, I was driving so I couldn't take any of the Wrexham fans up on their offer of a pint, but I'll never forget their warmth.

The B-Ark / Boston United Photo Archive
« on: August 25, 2016, 08:58:36 AM »
Sure most people are already aware, but for those who aren't: Andy Butler has set up a Facebook group sharing photos of Boston United from years past. Some absolutely brilliant stuff so far, and lots that has never before made it to the internet, including the Lincolnshire Standard's report on the 6-1 v Derby, and tons of photos of the York Street redevelopment. Some of this stuff belongs in a history of the ground, before it gets bulldozed.

Perfect antidote to any gloom you may be feeling about the fact we're a bit gubbins at the moment. Get over there.

The B-Ark / Anyone travelling via train through Nottingham tomorrow
« on: August 05, 2016, 03:06:42 PM »
Be aware that there's an EDL march in Nottingham tomorrow, with several factions from around the country meeting up in the morning at the Lloyds pub near the station. If that wasn't bad enough, approximately 2,000 Burton fans are heading into Nottingham for the opening Championship game of the season.

So anyone travelling through Nottingham on the train, please be prepared to share your train carriage with some spectacularly dim, mouth-breathing morons brandishing badly designed and inaccurate flags, who, emboldened by their well-known victories this year, won't be afraid to vocalise their disgusting and unwelcome opinions.

There will probably be a few EDL types as well.

Waheeeey!!! #footballbanter #banter #EPICBANTZ

The B-Ark / Carl Piergianni Appreciation Thing
« on: May 06, 2016, 01:50:03 PM »
I think we can all agree he has been an absolutely outstanding player for the Pilgrims, certainly one of our very best central defenders. Absolutely gutted he's played his last game at York Street for us - here's hoping he can sign off with us being promoted.

All the best on yer travels, Pidge  :(

Hmm.

Any guesses? Sounds ominous...

Might be clearing up the Steve Welsh thing, thinking about it?
