Did well to get themselves up for it, season being over and all.  ;)

From what I've seen we're miles better when Davidson is in the team.

Back on track - we'd have been in very good shape again if the Durham match had been played and won.

Seeing as our season is over anyway, I'd basically get rid of anyone we contractually can without paying them off and just stick the youth team in.

Adam will be spitting his dummy out soon seems a few more peoples glasses have lost the tint .

Wait until the people with perspective arrive back from the match,  ;)

Adam. 3 points off the playoffs, 3 points from the drop zone. Is your glass half full or is it half empty? Are you wearing rose tinted spectacles, or should you have gone to Specsavers?  ;D

We'll know after the next three matches: Durham and Buxton away, Ashton at home. IMHO there's not going to be much middle ground - they'll either go well with 7+ points setting us up for a play-off challenge or badly, with 3 or less which would, to be fair, indicate a season of mediocrity.

told you bob. We've now been told to get a grip. For me we've improved defensively. last season stats didn't really show that we looked like conceding from every attack. This season that isn't the case and we do look much better at the back. But seriously in the last two home games did we actually look like we would score. We could be playing now still and not of  scored. did we score today. That is a constructive view, so I'll kindly tell wear you can stick you 'get a grip' for my opinion. I was proved right about the abuse though wasn't i. If you don't conform to the 'boston walk on air approach' expect abuse. I wanted us to win so much today but you could see this a mile away. If we don't score early v durham was us struggle to break them down.

I don't know how you'll cope with such vile abuse... Err, seriously for a moment, how can our season possibly be over now? Did you have us down to cruise into mid table in the league, but win the FA Cup?

Looks like the most experienced player was to blame for goal ,

The need for experiences/youth is a complete illusion. Teams need good players. End of story.

Bit of a pig to be out the Cup this early, but seriously, season over with us three points off the play-offs, playing whipping boys and 17th place in our next two fixtures? Get a grip!

Anyway, I think we're about one more loss away from the first person giving it the high and mighty "I always knew these were the wrong appointments" rubbish.

We didn't appear likely to score until Suarez went off. 10 out of 10 for physical effort but I don't know where the goals we need are going to come from. Thats all I will say on the football, I'm saving my venom for a new topic on "Fancy Dress Man".
Agreed once Clarke came on it made a hell of a difference. Had my moan about the ref and Retfords dirty play.

As far as the game went thought when they actually tried to play football Retford where very good and pretty much dominated the first half. Second half we made more of a fist of it and looked the most likely to score especially when Clarke came on for the ineffective Suarez. Trouble is as has been said we went for the win instead of sitting for the draw and got caught on the break, don't think the mele helped us but did them. Still a long way to go and I'm sure the managers will make changes, for me Clarke MUST start on Saturday and up front not on the wing.

Agreed, Clarke is the heartbeat of the team when he's on the field. And although Cotton really should be playing on the wing and running at people, it's not hard to see why they were willing to make an exception to get Tyrone Kirk. Camm, Church and Sleath to make up the rest of the midfield. I thought Wood improved again today, although scoring their winner is a bit of a black mark.

Edit - oh, and it's a sad thing to have to say, but it'll do us the world of good the next two fixtures being away from home.

We where not all over them, we had one chance in 90 minutes! Hardly domination
we where fairly beaten by a side better suited to this league it's that simple

Oh, OK then. Just from memory between half time and the brawl:

Jamie Clarke from the angle beats the keeper, cleared off the line.
Jamie Clarke blasting a touch over after bursting down the right channel.
Church forced a great save from their keeper from 25 yards.

Anyway, I agree with WP's sentiments.

Lost but yet again Chalkers got us down as dominating the game...views ?  When are we going to start to break these teams down :-\

He's right. We were all over them ! Then there was a punch up... The ball was running out of play in direction of their dug out as we counter attacked, our player (can't remember who) was going to take it quickly, one of their staff just grabs it and wouldn't release it. Rob Scott was over there like a shot and it elevates - not sure how the ref only got 6 minutes added time. It completely broke our momentum and they scored straight after that with just about their first foray into our half since the first half.

And don't you think Boston fans have suffered enough over the last few years?

Even if some was self inflicted.......

Cut the crap about 'true fans', a fans a fan even if he only turns up once a season. Not everyone needs to stand behind a big flag with a replica shirt on to be classed a true fan.

Fact is there's some on here who've built this team up to be something its not, worse still there's some on here who still trot out the 'be thankful we've still got a club' line.

Its time for this much hyped management team to start delivering results, Tuesday's gate will probably dip below a thousand and its the middle of September, if we go out of the FA Cup on Saturday which is quite possible given the fragile nature of the team I think the fans have every right to voice their disapproval. Boston fans pay the highest prices in the league and they deserve better than the garbage seen so far at home.

One loss in seventeen games under new managers = fragile team?

Who is a fan and who isn't is a boring and irrelevant debate. Regardless, a lot of people are going to express opinions on the team. You're exactly right about there still being a few on here thankful of having a club: the rest with a sense of perspective have given up bashing their head against the brick wall and just accepted that some people just love to moan, and will do so whenever we don't win...

Eh? We may not have scored, but we were all over them today - hardly embarrassing. If Newsham had just taken a step back, controlled and smashed it rather than trying to glance it in from two feet it would've been one nil and no problems - the home form is getting beyond annoying now, but there's a lot more to come from the team and as soon as we really stamp our authority on one game then I'm sure that'll be the end of our troubles. We've dropped from fifth to seventh, but people need to put it in perspective and look where we were a year ago.

Wish we'd go 442 though.

Bloody hell. Looking at the text updates I thought we were putting them firmly in their tinpot place.

Think we're up to fourth on goals against? Do they use that?

Fair result imo. Played the ball in the air too much (as Adam said) as Davidson is on the pitch. Nothing against him but we need to play the ball along the floor more. Another thing, does anyone else think Chris Wood doesn't deserve a starting place?

Unless I wasn't paying much attention in pre-season when Cullingworth was awesome, he was playing right back... Wood did have a bit of a 'mare and might be worth resting him, putting Jackson at left back and shifting to the right.

Hope Canoville's injury isn't too serious.

1-1 then..........2 points dropped at home again.

Did we deserve more?

...to be honest, no. I think (hope) one win at home will set the ball rolling, but there's no point pretending we've been anything other than average so far. I've not seen the away games but the results combined with pre-season suggest they can turn it on. I think Davidson up front makes the hoof a bit too tempting... Not sure what Jamie Clarke has to do to get a start either.
