I hope Mr Newton is buying gold on behalf of Boston Utd instead of paying over inflated players' wages for instant success because inflation is rising and will be lot higher in the months ahead as will the price of gold.  Clubs in BSN with average gates of less than 500 can't sustain over inflated pay for players especially when inflation continues to rise- they will fail like a pack of cards.

That would be the time to cash in on the gold and mount an attack on the BSN title and Conference.

Rob Scott would have been seething after today's match at home to Bath City.

Another match when a 2-0 lead was squandered.   Bath City were still losing 2-0 until they pulled a goal back after 80mins, then equalised after 90mins.

However shortly afterwards, Grimsby were awarded a penalty and Connell who had scored Grimsby's goals in the first half, sent a weak shot into the hand of the Bath City's goalkeeper.

There are rumours circulating on Twitter that Connell missed the penalty on purpose to p!ss Rob Scott off, after he had slagged the players off in Grimsby Telegraph.

Oh to be fly on the wall of the Grimsby changing room!!!

So the win ratio since going to Grimsby is 0%.

Sleath was trying to get the ball from Church but was unsuccessful and Church scored a perfect penalty.

Assuming Boston Utd make it through to the play off final - most people think it will be against Telford Utd - and as things stand at the moment regarding our league positions - the final would be at Telford.

However - I am not so sure - because if Eastwood remain in 5th place - and we remain in 3rd place - the form that Eastwood are in would see them beat Telford in the semi-finals, but because we finished higher in the league - would mean that the final was at York Street on 15 May.

Wonder if the FA come knocking on the door of Crawley Town sometime in June.....?

Are Crawley Town getting a new ground because their current one only holds about 4500?

I thought the minimum for the Football League was 6500.

Pleased about Jason Lee on the touch line but I would have liked him to be more vocal, reminded me of Tommo.

It made a pleasant change having someone on the touchline who kept his cool (only heard him swear once!).  He was forever encouraging the players but also giving instructions to players when required.     I thought Yates had a good game, no doubt being able to play without the constant "Yatesy" that Rob Scott threw at him.

Should have won the match well by half time - but if we continue to play like that the goals will follow.

Shouldn't be surprised that it will be in the area where the orignal plans were submitted - near the "white elephant stadium" or whatever it is called... ???

Cant believe some people slating H&S for leaving with part of the season left, then welcoming back a player we have signed ( legend i know) who we have taken from a club whos supporters now say is going to cost them their position in the league.

DOUBLE STANDARDS OR WHAT?

Did Bazza break his contract with St Albans?

Just like they came from Ilkeston to a bigger club...

The difference though, is that they came to Boston United from Ilkeston AFTER the season had ended and were out of contract.

This time, they have left Boston United to become Grimsby Town managers whilst still under contract with Boston United.

I hear Fenty says we have no right to compensation as they both resigned, but then why do other clubs pay compensation to other clubs when appointing managers. Surely rather than paying an X amount, why do they not get the prospective manager to just resign and save them money, like Grimsby have tried. There must be a clause that prevents this, which i'm sure DN is working on trying to find. I can see this dragging on for a while. "

The following information taken from this website:
http://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/managers-moving-clubs.htm

The manager is under contract with another football club
It is this situation which can cause the most conflict as is often a scenario which comes into play when a club wishes to appoint a highly sought after manager. The small group of real high profile managers will in most instances be employed with a club, so if another club wishes to gain their services they will have to pay the price.

Do clubs have to pay a transfer fee for a manager for a manager who moves clubs in this manner?
If a football player under contract were to move in this manner the clubs would pay a transfer fee – the terms of which will be agreed upon by the two clubs. For a manager to move there is no specific transfer fee but the clubs do have to come to an arrangement.

What kind of arrangement?
The club who gains the services of the manager will be required to pay a fee to compensate the club who is losing the manager. The amount of compensation is a matter which will be agreed between the two clubs.

What is this compensation for?
When the manager leaves the club to which he was originally contracted he will be deemed to have terminated his contract early (a breach of the contract) meaning that the club will need to be compensated for this loss.

What happens if the clubs cannot agree an adequate amount of compensation?
If the manager moves between clubs and the clubs cannot agree on an adequate amount of compensation then due to the early termination of the contract the original club will be able to bring the following claims:

Breach of contract – by the manager
Inducement to breach the contract – by the club obtaining his services
It is likely that both these claims are to be heard by a disciplinary tribunal which will decide on the adequate amount of compensation to be paid.

I hope that David Newton doesn't back down and continues with the claim for compensation.

From the Boston Target Sport Twitter at 1651

"Spoken to David Newton again this afternoon.  He is NOT backing down.  Check out tomorrow's Echo."

The ex-managers signed a contract and no doubt would be the first ones to demand compensation had they been sacked.   It works both ways and they are in breach of the contract they signed.

Having listened to Scotty Daltons post match interview with Rob Scott again,  when Rob was asked about the Grimsby job, he denied having spoken to Grimsby (perhaps disappointed that Grimsby hadn't been in contact with Boston United) but then proceeded to "advertise how good both he and Paul Hurst are."  In other words - he was putting the pair "up for sale".

Then the approach was made by Grimsby the following day.

Although speculation on my part - I have no doubt that Scott wanted out after the match on Saturday and needed to advertise his skills.
