The B-Ark / Re: Boston United's best moment of the decade
« on: December 23, 2019, 07:20:51 PM »
May is just too late! The decade finishes on 31st December 2019.

It started quite well in January 2010 with a 2-0 win against Sheffield in the Unibond League Challenge Cup followed by that 10-0 win against Durham City at York Street. Went on to make the playoffs and win promotion at Bradford Park Avenue.

I hope to have my answer in May .

Play-off final at YS with us beating Lynn or York in front of another 4k plus crowd .

You have to forgive him Ken, he doesn't know what day it is, never mind decade. :)

One less Christmas card to send ,     ;D

You can clearly see 2 lines of hoardings.

The boards are doubles-stacked in some places and the FA Cup ad boards did indeed obscure those local firms unfortunate enough to be at the bottom. Disappointing.

As always money talks , particularly in football .    I'm sure Craig and Chestnuts had it all sorted with the  advertisers .

Why are they cordoned off?

I guess its because  the spectators hide the averts on the back walls .

I remember having the feeling of being conned. It was not advertised as a X1.  After we bought the tickets, did we then realise that the first team was abroad and a Man U 11 was playing elsewhere.
And didn't we fall for the same con the next season Mick v Liverpool ?

About 1800 matches under my belt at York Street , in over 73 seasons ,  Still will get the "big match " buzz when I walk in Monday night .

Highlights of the friendly match - Boston United v Manchester United 25 July 2001

The attendance was 5184 - wonder if we get near to this on Monday night.

Bearing in mind the regime at the date of this fixture do you think the attendance could be  be understated ?   after all anyone can make mistakes and they made plenty .

The B-Ark / Re: Replay televised
« on: December 04, 2019, 02:03:34 PM »
I have said before and I will say it again.  Whenever we have to give up the town end, surely they should take over the York Street end.  The acoustics are brilliant, not like the Spayne road side.  You only have to hear when 50 or 60 away fans sing, they make a good noise.

To give the opposing view, I'm a season ticket holder in the York Street end, and it is hugely frustrating when we get moved out. A few seasons ago, for example, you spend the whole season watching the matches from a favoured viewing point amongst people that you know; a play off game then materialises (v Chorley), and you have to watch it from an unfamiliar angle amongst people that you don't know. It's not nice when it happens, and some of the people in the York Street end have been season ticket holders in there for decades.

My suggestions:

(1) Make the Rochdale replay all ticket for away fans, so we know in advance exactly how many are coming. Do everything possible to keep part of the York Street end available to home fans. (Hopefully the early kick off time and the fact the game is televised will put a few Rochdale fans off coming).

(2) If there's a genuine need to shift home fans around for crowd number reasons, alternate which stand accommodates the away support - Town End, York Street and Spayne Road each taking it in turns. Would be a whole lot fairer as at least it is not the same people being asked to move every time. I believe each stand has its own toilet and catering facilities, so ought to be viable.

Whatever happens, at least the move to the Quadrant should let us all settle on a preferred stand and not have to worry about these things again.

They can't please us all LP .,  I think to be fair over the years the town enders have mainly had the sh*ty end of the stick on these occasions .      I'm a season ticket holder in the Main Stand and have been a YS regular for 72 years .    If I have to give up my seat and stand on the terrace in P*ssing rain so be it .      It's a price we all would have settled for pre-season .

So  2-2 draw against Kidderminster at home from two seasons ago was York Street's last ever FA Trophy tie.

Probably get a couple of FA Cup matches in .  :)

Craig's the manager and he does what he thinks is right. He doesn't appear to be doing badly so let's trust his judgement whether we're winning or losing. Unless anyone else on here has his sort of managerial experience then we probably aren't qualified to question his decision making.

I imagine there'll be no risks taken in training this week and thankfully no more of our first team regulars will be suspended - a possibility if they'd played today. I take it you were there when Thewlis and Rollins were red carded earlier in the season.

TEP

You and TTT have got to be right ,  less chance of getting a card or bad injury on the training ground than playing against a lower league team desperate to beat us .      If we pull it off against Rochdale with the right draw the next round would earn us far more than winning the trophy .            Still sad that the travelling fans were let down ,  I think with hindsight Craig will regret not revealing earlier a second eleven was going to be fielded .

Lincoln and Grimsby go out tonight... only 1 Lincolnshire team left in!

Drury got it right then .
I can recall at his signing on forum he declared that Boston was the biggest club in Lincolnshire  :)

I think he is very good at getting management jobs and then getting sacked and picking up a big fat pay off .
You can never financially loose when managing at his level.

A little unfair, I can’t think of many managers who have seen 7 teams promoted?
Yes probably is in his case, but it's common place in the Premiership and Championship, you fail still get a massive financial reward.

Warnock worked his way up, he didn't start at the top. He started at Trinity!
And failed in his application for a job at Boston .

Macclesfield  are fielding an under 18 team, senior players on strike.

Maccy and Bury in the Con N next season ?
