The B-Ark / Re: How many grounds have you been to?
« on: September 13, 2009, 11:49:53 PM »
Ever wondered how many stadiums you've been to? Tick them off on the "Ground Log Day" feature on the www.WeWillFollow.co.uk website.

All current and old grounds listed, and we have an overall and United only leaderboard. It's free, just go to the site, stick in your name and club and tick away.

Would like to see Boston on the leaderboard, over 3000 on the site so far.

I don't really need to pay a tenner to find out I've been to 129 grounds (and I'm sure there are many on here who've been to many more) but thanks for the offer.

I'll dig my wallet out at Burscough and pass on a donation if I can find Craig.

Do people not realise metric is here? 10 yards is 9 METRES.

The Laws of Football state it in metres and yards:

http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/federation/81/42/36/lawsofthegameen.pdf
"All oppponents must be at least 9.15m (10yds) from the ball..."

so I'll alter my previous post:

Presumably he's measured out his paces and each is 1.017m (1.111 yd) long rather than exactly 0.915m (1yd)?

I've rounded to 3 significant figures where appropriate - not sure I can do the correct notation for recurring decimals on the forum?!

With Saturdays game even though the reff was poor judging by his very limited maths ability i think he has to be commended on learning the basic rules of the game. Don,t know how many people noticed ( sure the assessor would ) that when moving the Kendal wall back at free kicks 1st half he only managed to count to 9 yards.  Near the end of the match when Boston got a free kick near the edge of the box he could only manage to stride out 8 yards ,

Presumably he's measured out his paces and each is 1.1 yards long rather than exactly one yard?

The B-Ark / Re: Getting to Boston games by Public Transport

I was contemplating coming over to Boston for the pre-season friendly at Tattershall Road next week, but nearly fell off my seat when I saw the price of the train fare. £32 return is more than three-times what I would spend on petrol if making the same journey by car.

£32 is the Anytime Fare.
Assuming you're just going for the day then an Off Peak Day Return is what you need. That's £18.

Shame about Farsley cos their handful of supporters at our game certainly brought a smile to my face.

Unibond League Cup 1997?

According to the Nottingham Evening Post we've signed Jamie Clarke.
I'm assuming that's the Stamford striker?

...so have we got an extra two games this year?

6 Out - 2 promoted, 4 relegated

7 In - 3 relegated, 4 promoted

Hednesford have been moved to the Southern League so its 7 out as well.

According to the FA:

"There remain, however, a small number of issues that may result in further changes to the published list being applied. Such changes will be published here on TheFA.com."

Maybe clubs have until the AGM to get themselves sorted out.  The Conference could decide to kick a few out on a whim as well.

We might end up playing Witton and Northwich yet.
