Absolutley gutting news. One of my favourite players ever to don the shirt.

Condolences to his family.

RIP Shirty.   :'(

Another thing, does anyone else think Chris Wood doesn't deserve a starting place?

I have thought that since the first home game. He was also shockingly bad against Hucknall, giving their left winger, the one that went down for the penalty under his challenge, far too much room and time to cause us problems.

Play Canners at RB with Pearson along Parker in the middle.

The B-Ark / Kieron Leabon
« on: September 06, 2009, 09:31:51 PM »
For those that like to keep up with the whereabouts of former players, the following has been taken from the Non League Daily Website:-

Kieran Leabon has been sent out on loan to Zamaretto League Division One Midlands neighbours Bury Town after making just two substitute appearances for Blue Square Premier club Histon.

Stutes boss Steve Fallon thinks the young forward, who arrived at the Glassworld Stadium from Boston United during the closed season, will benefit from the move after struggling to adapt to life at the higher level.

Leabon (pictured) joins fellow Histon attacker Andrew Tidswell on loan at Ram Meadow.

Fallon said: "Kieran will be at Bury for a month initially and, if it's suiting both parties, he could stay there longer.

"He's come up to this level and struggled a little bit, certainly confidence-wise, and he knows some of the people at Bury.

"People need to be enjoying their football and in surroundings where they feel confident to try things, so that's why he's gone there and, hopefully, we'll get the real Kieran come back to us at some point."

Don't need one. It's a bit corny and does anyone really listen to him. Drop the idea.

I agree entirely.  I'm not  a fan of the concept at all. What does it add?

I wasn't intending to start a Clarke vs Miller debate, nor imply that we should have kept Miller.   ???  I just posted the article because I thought that it was of interest.

It was a new story about a former player that I had been unaware , and thought that it was worth posting to bring us all up to date with his whereabouts.  The last post I remember seeing about him suggested that he was training with St Albans. Clearly that didn't work out for him.

I know that lots of us like to keep tabs on former players - Ken likes the "Where are they now" type updates - that's all.

I thought we'd moved on from the subject of Ricky Miller.................

What, so you want to censor what the rest of us are allowed to post then???  You would prefer that the only topics of discussion are the current team/squad/managers/season???

The harm in my post was what exactly???????????

If you have no wish to read about "the past", then can I suggest that don't read the posts that clearly refer to them in the heading!!!!!   ::)   ::)   ::)

The B-Ark / Ricky Miller

From the Non League Daily website:-

"Tuncay Korkmaz, manager of UniBond League Division One South club Stamford, believes he has a formidable arsenal of striking weapons.

Korkmaz saw his latest signing Ricky Miller (pictured) make an immediate impact when firing an equaliser at Goole AFC in midweek.

Former Spalding United and Rothwell Town man Miller , snapped up from UniBond Premier side Boston United, joins popular Phil Stebbing, prolific former Peterborough Northern Star man Karl Gibbs and the currently injured Danny Matson in the Daniels ranks.

One forward on his way out of the Vic Couzens Stadium is Sam Bettinson. He has returned to Deeping Rangers but remains registered as a Daniels player.

Korkmaz said: "It is important to have four good strikers and I certainly feel we have that.

"We are pleased to have Ricky on board and if he can continue the form he has showed in the past, he is the sort of player that is capable of scoring 25 goals a season.

"He only had 12-or-so minutes the other night but popped up with an important goal. Ricky adds to what we already have here in Phil, who has all the attributes and scored goals at this level last season, Karl and Danny."

Let's be fair, to win the ashes was a remarkable achievement this time round , especially when the Aussies dominated the stats.  However, apart from when we played the Saffers last year, when were we cosistently good at one day cricket?

I agree.  On Saturday my open topped bottle seemed to be a magnet for a rather persistant wasp, and by the time the bottle was 1/3 full it was fairly flat.   >:(
