The B-Ark / Re: Farsley

That was without doubt the best performance of the season so far.

It was a very good performance. But if push came to shove, I think the 4-0 win v Leamington in the first league game of the season just pipped it. I think Leamington are a better side than Farsley,, certainly more established at this level and a side we've often struggled to get positive results against in the past. And to beat them 4-0 at a time when our squad was only just coming together set down a marker for the season. But that's not to take anything away from today's performance.

Surprised there are still a number of either/or ties in the draw given that ties are now settled after one game and straight to penalties. Were all those matches Covid postponements?

Saw Chesterfield earlier in the season on BT Sport vs Stockport and on the day they were awful and we'd have nothing to fear. They've changed managers since though,, so will be an entirely different proposition.

Thanks Lee. At moment I'm getting 44Mbps, which I don't think is too bad, but obviously didn't test my speed during the game as I was trying to watch it. I've been working from home during Covid and there is a huge downturn in the performance of the works IT network at peak, times of day compared to out of hours, so I think my Internet performance is a bit variable.

I hadn't realised there was a cog to reduce the screen quality (only able to watch on a small tablet screen), but will try that next match. I don't think it's an issue with being too far away from the router as I can watch programmes on BBC iplayer, etc, on the same device in the same seat without any performance issues.

Connor Dimaio

And so it was.

And thanks to the streaming service at the new ground a lot of us got to see it and it was a cracking goal. (The streaming worked much better this week - even the commentary)

To be honest I still had a lot of buffering issues today. I didn't see Fylde score at all (because it was buffering), I didn't know that Fylde had the ball in the net at the end of the game until I heard Craig Elliott's interview (because it was buffering), and then Scott Garner's penalty buffered and hung in mid air for about 30 seconds before I knew it was in. Happy that the club is doing everything it can and the issue must be with individual people's broadband services, but if anyone has got any tips on anything I can do to improve the current watching experience please let me know.

I did see Conor Dimaio's goal, but I already knew we were going to score because I got an update from Flash Scores before the goal actually reached my screen!

The B-Ark / Re: Gloucester Stream
« on: December 02, 2020, 03:14:53 PM »
I'm not so sure.

I thought it was poor how they didn't switch the stream on until 19:44 - one minute before kick-off. Had they done so a bit earlier they might have picked up the technical difficulties sooner and we might not have missed as much of the game. If other people are like me then they're still finding their feet in terms of whether they can cast from the phone to the tv, have to watch it on a tablet, etc. Switching the stream on so close to kick-off doesn't allow supporters any time to get themselves set. In the end I couldn't get it to cast to the tv so had to watch it on a 5-inch screen which was a bit like watching matchstick men run around.

Commentary: Hmm. At one point they told up Gloucester were playing a 3422 formation (that'll be twelve players, then, including the goalkeeper). And then when we made one of our substitutions they couldn't tell us who the player was who had gone off; I had no chance of seeing based on the size of the players on my tablet screen and the cameras could have been closer to the action, so had to fire up twitter separately to see.

Not altogether sure why some streams will cast to my TV but others won't. (Anyone got any suggestions)? Darlington has been the gold standard in all of these (better for watching it on a big screen and having different camera angles, replays, etc). Gloucester - nowhere near as good as Darlington.

Incidentally with all supporters (both home and away) having to watch via a stream, could anyone have considered getting a message to the referee to delay the kick-off slightly so that we didn't have to miss the action?

I've purchased it, but I had a few problems doing so. I'd earlier purchased the stream for the original match and had the refund and, as my email address was already known to them, the website kept telling me that I needed to sign in rather than register. Only problem... there wasn't a sign-in button, only a register button.

Workaround if anyone else has the same issue is to use a different browser. Firefox gave me the sign in button where Internet Explorer didn't.

Great result and the performance looked good based on what I saw.

Streaming didn't work too well for me, unfortunately. I had a lot of problems with buffering (worst case scenario missed 9 minutes of the first half), and was constantly messing about trying to restart the stream throughout the second half. I was watching on my tablet and casting to my TV via a Google chromecast, what technologies are other people using and are they any better?

The youth team stream in midweek worked much better than today's, so it might not be an issue with my equipment - could be weather related. But still, if there is something out there which is more reliable than what I've got I'd like to know about it.

Option One.

But I think there are a few season ticket holders who aren't PC users and probably won't be able to take up the streaming option. I wonder if there could also be a DVD service to get copies of matches afterwards - either as part of a subscription or a game by game basis?

Our ex (loan) goalkeeper Conrad Logan was released by Mansfield Town. He's now set up his own goalkeeper academy and signed for Anstey Nomads in the United Counties League, a drop of five levels.

Tom Clare has joined Pontefract Collieries. Their manager has gone on record as saying he has all the attributes to make a good career in the game... as a central defender. Intriguing.

Warren had some good performances last season so a good signing and now have the left back which was the main position left to fill. I make that 17 first team players so proberbly signings about complete. Looks a good squad on paper, could we possibly make a serious title challenge this season?

We had 17 players on our first team squad photo last season, but from memory there were a couple missing (definitely Wafula and I think someone else). Then there was Jake Wright added on a long term loan very soon afterwards. So I'd probably expect a couple more to get the squad size similar to last year.

Notts County are still involved in last season's FA Trophy, and are due to play a semi final against Harrogate at some point (date not yet confirmed). Could the two players we've signed from there still be called in to County's FA Trophy squad, and what impact will that have on our own preparation for the new season?
