I won't spout names on here but I've been told from a very reliable source we have what I'd describe as a big marquee player (old boy dropping out of the pro game who had a successful year last season) signing the dotted line on Monday and there is an ex player returning (had a consistent couple of years at NLN level) who has already signed and will be announced in due course.

As expected Billy Chadwick won't be returning as he has offers from Grimsby, Harrogate and Scunny.

Agree with this completely and hope we get some bigger names in. Like I said on another thread though, how many times have we all got so excited at the end of pre-season thinking we have this amazing squad who will easily finish in the top 3 only to be left very disappointed? Hopefully this year could be the reverse of that!

100% my thoughts too but how many times have we thought the recruitment has been amazing and we'd easily win the league and been very wrong?! Hopefully this season is the opposite!

Solid and got what we set-up for. Based on what I've seen in recent weeks it's clear to me our first choice front two/three should be Burrow, Wright, Chadwick. Mitford has gone down hill since his first app where he did look half decent at Lynn on NYD. Goodson I'm unsure of, has only really performed at the level below this which is why Alty signed him, be highly surprised if he's contracted to a NL team at the start of next season. He's another who's best game for us was his very first....and I know he didn't last too long in that.

I do also think we'll stay up. We haven't turned a corner but we have improved. We aren't going to score many goals but we look hard to beat now and can't fault the effort levels.
