The B-Ark / Re: End of National League on TNT Sports?
« on: July 28, 2024, 07:54:24 PM »
Anyone got any idea how much notice they have to give to change kick-off times?

I don't want to book advance train tickets if we might suddenly be playing at 5.30. Or leave it till the last minute to book rail tickets and miss out on the cheap fares.

In either of these scenarios I'd probably just not go to games I would if I could be certain they were a 3pm kick-off...

I might have missed something here but how does Brad being offered a contract at Gateshead tie in with him not being able to play at National League level as mentioned on the other thread?

Has the banning order expired? Have we misunderstood how it works and he can play at National league level but watch it? Or did the authorities look at Gateshead's place and think "well they can't possibly be in the 5th tier with a ground like that"?

Given he lives on Herries Road (for those who don't know Sheffield, Wednesday's ground is at the bottom of it) Brad would be a brave man supporting your lot Andy!

I'm sure Brad will find a decent club at NLN now - he would fit right in at Alfreton for instance. And fair play to him doing well in the playoffs presumably knowing he couldn't play for us if we did get promoted...

I'm assuming Rowe will go, but being positive about it maybe other players will see him as an example and come to get regular game time and kickstart their careers

Gregory might also go, but will he want to know he is the first choice wherever he goes? That might make him stay, for another season anyway

As for Knowles, he particularly needs to make the right choice, I feel. Again pick a club where you are playing most if not every week. Billy Chadwick was great for us but I can't be the only one who thought he might be at a club doing better than being in a Conference relegation battle?

But having said all that, what do I know? I never rated Colby Bishop. Or Manny Diesruwve.

This is a bit of a niche post but my pal Matt suggested I put it up in case anyone else is interested.

Me and him are both BUFC fans based in Sheffield who didn't get tickets for the game. We are off to watch it in the Broomhill Tavern - they have TNT and told me "if it is football and it is on, we will have it on". I can't see that there is any other English football on at the same time so am assuming they will be showing it..

The pub's Abbeydale Moonshine and Deception is pretty good if you like real ale

We had a conversation on Saturday about Marc Newsham is playing now. I see last night he was scoring for Maltby Main at Hallam FC in the Northern Counties East League.

I'm on 155, with 135 of those watching BUFC teams. Like others I'm hoping for South Shields and Warrington this season...

Whilst I have not seen a news item on the club site, it is down in the fixtures there for November 4th, something confirmed on the Moors website. Let's hope they are having less rain in County Durham than we are in Sheffield, otherwise it might get called off again...

To be honest I didn't think Kiddy were that great when we played them in March. Better than us but they had a lot of the ball but never particularly looked like scoring. Given what they have done since, maybe we were better than I thought that day...

If I had to pick just one player who kept us up, I would choose the keeper. I hope he signs!

Clearly I would like him to stay but perhaps more realistically Hull (and indeed other clubs) appreciate how he has done here and send us similar youngsters, a bit like Sunderland used to a few years back

In the second half we were standing close enough to the bench to listen out for any clues re names of trialists, but Paul Cox seemed to refer to everyone as "son".
But in the first half (without too many trialists on the pitch) we looked pretty decent. My pal commented that the ball was getting moved round much quicker than last pre-season
