Also interesting to see both Zak & Scott left out of the squad completely for last night.

Yes I was surprised by that. The 2 signings this summer that I thought wow what a signing when they signed.

On the radio Craig said Zak was left out as he hasn't really had a pre-season and is lacking match fitness.  Should be back for the weekend.

York's Twitter account states that they are 'currently seeking clarification from the National League on the possibility of Livestreaming Saturday's Promotion final'.   Not ideal, but anybody with or without a ticket might want to consider e-mailing the National League to try and get them to pull their finger out here and get it sorted!  You never know, a little fan pressure might help.  info@thenationalleague.org.uk

The B-Ark / Did we over-perform this season?
« on: August 03, 2020, 01:55:44 PM »
Still really disappointed about Saturday, but I don't think you can fault the players or management, everyone has given their absolute best throughout the season.  I really liked the quote before the game saying it's all about having the best team, and not the best individuals, as for me, relatively speaking this was not as good a Boston side as has previously featured in the play-offs.  That's not to say I don't think they did well, but were they really that good as individuals, or has the quality of the division deteriorated?  Did they actually over-perform this year getting to the play-offs in the first place?

Here are the four teams that have reached the play-off finals over the last ten years.   Although not an exact science as we didn't always play 4-4-2,  I've put in bold the player who I rated the best for that position. Only Thanoj and Wright get in my 'best XI' (and I'm not sure about Wright), and it also made me think about what a fantastic team we had in both 2015 and 2016.

I'm really not trying to be negative toward this year's players as clearly, as a team, they have performed very well, but do you agree with my choices?

I was Newcastle's mascot when they visited in 1989!   Praying we can get passed Rochdale now!

Newcastle bringing their first team for a friendly. Losing 1-0 to a goal from Brazilian international Mirandinha.

Very minor point but although Mirandinha played in that game he didn't actually score - the game's only game was scored by the Dane (and lesser-known Newcastle player) Frank Pingel.  I was Newcastle's mascot that day!  Glenn Roeder was Newcastle's captain and I remember the referee given me the £1 coin used during the toss-up at the start of the game which I thought was loads of money at the time!

Although I am a Boston lad my Dad brought me up as a Newcastle supporter so this was a fabulous day full of memories for me.  I've still got the game on VHS...

King's Lynn beat Warrington 3 - 2 in extra time so a great local derby to look forward to, with Bazza in attendance.

Salford are in the Football League after beating Fylde 3-0.

Interesting to note who scored too.  Piergianni who we all hold it the highest regard but also Emmanuel Dieseruvwe, who I never thought looked anything special when he played for us.  Isn't football a funny old game?

Nice Work (anagram).

Our manager making very good signings, he's certainly not allergic to it (anagram)

As an occasional Deeping supporter I just thought I would clarify that Deeping actually won 2-0 yesterday, Boston Town played Pinchbeck who are also doing pretty well in the UCL.  Pinchbeck are currently managed by ex-BGS student Ian Dunn.

What's happened to Kaine Felix?
That is a very good question YSP.  I understand that although he was wanted by Dennis he can't sign for Town due to his connection with Deeping earlier in the season.

The B-Ark / New signing?

I've heard on pretty good authority that the club are about to announce a new signing... somebody we know well and I think most would agree is a good signing.  Sorry for being cryptic

Just to avoid tempting fate I'm 'asking for a friend'.

I can see the Final is May 13th but does anybody know the dates planned for the quarter and semi finals?  Thanks
