Chettle is a proper ball playing midfielder and will be a fine signing IF he is given the platform to play

If it's just lumped long he won't be effective

I'll just repeat what I've said in here many times

Two years ago Murray had a squad starting to assemble which had Kalern Thomas, Shane Clarke, Marcus Marshall, Josh Robinson, Tom Batchelor, Jan Yeomans, Ross Durrant, Gregg, Charlie Gatter, Maguire, Gordon, Burgess etc etc

AM got rid of some of them, some left of their own accord but many slagged the group off on here for not being good enough. Maybe they lacked in quality, but they made up for it in effort and the current squad is no better than they were, costs lots more money and doesn't have their fight

No progress in 24 months on the field in my view

Real leaders lead whether they are captain or not. Doesn't matter who wears the armband - if you're a leader you will lead by example and if you're not you won't. Simple as that

CE says in his interview 'if I can get the right person in alongside Gav' - suggesting he's after adding to the squad

I can't remember a manager who has been allowed to sign so many players and get rid of them so quickly. Don't think he's any nearer knowing his best side than at the start of the season

He's won things in the past with a bigger budget than the rest of the league and is now struggling when others have bigger war chests than him

But the concern surely has to be over the style of play doesn't it - which remains the same. Plan A is hoof it and Plans B C and D are hoof it too. Why not get some footballers in rather than pub players, get it down and pass it. I can't see results would be any worse and surely it would be more pleasant on the eye?

I come back to what I've said time and time again. Early in Murray's reign the team contained the likes of Kalern Thomas, Shane Clarke, Lewis Hilliard, Ross Durrant, Gregg Smith, Marcus Marshall, Jan Yeomans, Jack Broadhead, Josh Robinson, Tom Batchelor etc etc

The side is no better now than it was then. God only knows how many players have been recruited (some at considerable cost) and subsequently shown the door since then

No real progress in two years tbh. And the style of play is no better either

Established Step 2 players regularly get five or six hundred a week. Bostons big hitters will likely be on that sort of money although that will be eased by the departures of Marriott and Arnold

Allott will probably have been on 250 at Frickley I'd think. Problem at Boston seems to have been geography and the impact on a players pocket of petrol money

Seems lessons have been learnt re recruitment of 'superstars' with yesterday's result a prime example. Hopefully a longer term lesson too. Great performance too against an awful Blyth side

At least he shouldn't be late for training!

11 goals in 120+ games isn't great though

Thought he'd be going to Alfreton to replace Denton but they've announced another big fella. Allott would be a gamble at Step 2 as it's a big jump from Frickley where the league standard is very average indeed but might be worth a gamble. No better than Smith though so to fit them both in it'd have to be two up front which, with the two big uns might lead to some hoof ball

Gregg Smith is 100% Boston

Very harshly treated. Big names like Margetts and Arnold bought in to replace him. But they've not done. Is as they're just taking the money. Both are a massive waste of cash. Much better off with people who want to play for the club not dollar chasers

Hopefully CE will learn from this and recruit accordingly rather than getting star struck by 'big names' who don't give a toss who they represent

Well done yesterday. Pleased for Gregg who would never have left York St if he'd been treated properly in the first place. Prove em wrong Gregg!

The constant tinkering and changing of personnel can't be helpful - not to mention costly

The Keane one is bizarre. From what I've seen down the years has decent. Experienced at this level too. Simply hasn't been given a chance

All this is costly too. CE doesn't know his best team or shape after all his time in the job and I can't see the club is any better off in the field than it was two years ago but has a bigger wage bill

I agree re Margetts. When he signed I thought he'd smash this league. But scrutiny of his scoring record yields very little

Arnold should breeze the league too. But it's just not working at the minute. Will CE get time? The board were very patient with Murray so he probably will. But 28 players signed is a huge number and bringing Gregg back (whilst I rate him at what he does and would have him in my side any day) tells me the hoof it style is here to stay

In his interview CE says he needs to surround himself with players he can trust

Implying he doesn't trust the players he's bought in. If that is the case then it's his flawed recruitment or that of whoever is doing the recruiting that is causing the problems

So the recruitment seems to have been wrong. And the motivation is clearly wrong. Besides selecting the shape, what more does the manager do? So on two out of three jobs CE is found wanting. This is a different level from where he's been at before and he seems to not quite be up to the job at the minute

Manager has no experience at Step 2 I'm afraid

No experience motivating well paid players many of whom have played higher

That said, it is his team. Not anyone else's. Week after week more and more players come in. It's just a revolving door at the club

Players play best in a settled side with a settled shape and the same people around them. Is anyone out there convinced the manager knows his best team or best formation because it doesn't look that way to be. Just lumping it will get you nowhere in this league

Massive wage bill, big squad and I don't personally think there's been much on field improvement since Murray came in

Know your best 11, make sure they know the shape you want and stick with them for a while

Here’s the team from Murray’s first game

Hundreds of thousands of pounds have gone out of the club since. Is the club any further forward on the pitch?

Boston (4-1-2-1-2): Ross Durrant; Kalern Thomas, Josh Robinson, Joe Maguire, Ben Gordon; Charlie Gatter; Callum Chippendale (Ben Clappison 36), Lewis Hilliard (Lamin Colley 77); Marcus Marshall (Jason St Juste 88); Jay Rollins, Gregg Smith. Subs (not used): Waide Fairhurst, Michael Emery (gk).
